I sold an item on the 28th oct. Buyer opens case not received on 6th nov. I message her to say check the tracking. Delivery was attempted twice and was waiting for her at her local mail centre.
16th nov. I want a refund immediately.
Sorry but you will have to collect your item or rearrange delivery.
i want it delivered by 8.00 tonight.
sorry but posties don’t deliver in the evening.
well I want it by 9.30 tomorrow morning.
There is no guarantee on delivery.
your item is waiting for you at your local mail depot.
where is my local depot.
a screenshot of directions, phone number and opening times was provided
Totally ignored and the parcel was sent to a main depot to be returned to me after it was there for 20 days because it was not collected.
again opens a case today to say her item hasn’t arrived.
parcel has not come back to me either….

Have a look at the money back guarantee for seller protections and buyer exclusions.

Also ensure you upload the tracking to the case to show attempted delivery.
01-12-2024 5:16 PM
If you've uploaded the tracking to the case and it shows that an attempt has been made to deliver the item to the address that the buyer supplied at Checkout then eBay ought to close the case in your favour. If that does indeed happen then the buyer will not be able to open another eBay Item Not Received case in relation to the same transaction.
In addition to the above, if the buyer leaves you negative feedback prior to eBay closing the case in your favour make sure that you contact eBay Customer Services as soon as possible afterwards and ask for the buyer's negative feedback to be removed, stating that it should not be allowed to remain given that the case was closed in your favour. Under those circumstances eBay ought to remove any negative feedback left by the buyer, as well as the account-damaging defect that you would have received as a result of the buyer leaving negative feedback in relation to the transaction.
In the event that you haven't already done so by the time you read this response, add the buyer's User ID to your Blocked Bidders List so that she cannot purchase anything else from you in the future and cause you any further aggravation.

Thankyou. So I’m reading I do not have to refund even if the parcel comes back to me eventually
01-12-2024 5:18 PM
Thankyou. Tracking is always uploaded on the day of posting
01-12-2024 6:08 PM
Thankyou. Well she has managed to open 2 cases for it. Tracking was uploaded at the time of dispatch and again when the first case was opened.
Today I got another case opened and now the funds have been put on hold for 10 days.

I am a bit confused by your opening post.
You say the buyer opened a case on 6th November but has opened another 'item not received' case today.
Is the second case an Ebay case or have they gone to their payment provider for a chargeback?
01-12-2024 6:16 PM
I's impossible for a buyer to open and close more than one item not received case on ebay.
As suggested by @jckl1957 it is more likely to be a charge back. Could you confirm where the case has come from please?
01-12-2024 6:39 PM
Apologies. The buyer has now asked eBay to review the case and the funds put on hold. Which is for 10 more days…

You can open an INR for every item on the order. So, when an order has 10 items, you can open 10 INRs.
I had a buyer that just kept opening INRs in an attempt to get a refund for a parcel that was at the sorting office after two failed delivery attempts.

I don't think you're compelled to refund but when, and if, the parcel returns to you (and, in my experience, they usually do after a couple of weeks), you should refund. You have the item and the money, and the buyer has nothing.
01-12-2024 7:17 PM
Yes I would anyway if it came back.
In all my 16 years of being on here I have never experienced this before,. I feel like a novice
01-12-2024 7:23 PM
Can you confirm whether the second case is actually a chargeback?

When I encountered the serial INR raiser, it was my first time that this had happened. Although it's never advised on these boards, I asked eBay to step in and help. They said they'd advised the buyer that no refund would be forthcoming, and that the parcel should be collected.
eBay obviously did contact her because I got a furious email, saying that she was a busy person and didn't have time to collect the parcel and that I was a pig (and quite a few other things) for contacting eBay. She also left a neg alleging poor costomer (sic) service and advising that nobody should buy from me.
I kept an eye on her account, and a couple of months later she was NLRU, so maybe she was a serial non-collector refund demander.

While I'm not suggesting you do this, it would be a lesson to said 'buyer' to lose their money in this instance.
Maybe they would not do it again as they seem quite versed.

Unlike my normal menopausal temper, , I have remained calm and collected throughout this even when she demanded it be delivered by 8.00 this evening. I couldn’t imagine ever saying that to any seller..
Luckily I have had very few problems over the years and only once I had to involve the police as it got very abusive…
01-12-2024 8:24 PM
Yes I understand what you mean, but It wouldn’t make me feel better….

Yes, I know that but the OP only sold one item to them.
Hopefully your buyer will have put himself on the MBG banned list for opening so many cases in quick succession.

What did the police do? I'd be pleasantly surprised if they said more than: civil case, none of our business, we're busy doing [whatever it is that police do these days].
For the refund, if any, it shouldn't include the postage you spent on this fruitless sale.
