What is your best / lowest price?

How do you respond in a professional manner when you allow offers and the buyer still asks - "What is your lowest or best price?" My best price is the one you see! Surely I won't be suggesting my lowest possible prices.

If they send their second offer even lower than their first one it is like a moody child who thinks - "You don't like what I offer you you get even less now!" The stock is mine and I have the right to decide what I am selling it for.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

I might offer it for a bit less if my listing does not create enough interest for the starting price.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

It will work slightly different for me as i am a business, with different things to consider, such as my original buying price, for one i need to pay my suppliers.

So in reality my best price is allot more than my current asking price, as I'm in it for the profit, and my best offer price is a little lower but never as low as the customer offers, its  a delicate negotiation.

Cant advertise for more the market isn't there.

I do wish for the good old days when you actually made a decent profit on every thing you sold Private and business alike.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

I agree.

It's your perogative to decide what is a selling price you are happy with.

If a buyer isn't willing to accept that then it's their loss especially if they want the item.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

My item could be too expensive so I take into account what type of offers I receive. It is still a valuable feedback but at the end it is my decision what is too expensive.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

I totally agree.

A buyer needs to realise you have costs to take into consideration before you even start looking into profit.

My biggest gripe are private sellers trying to get crazy profits.

Like buying something for 20 and trying to get 40.

Good luck to them and their excessive greed.

It's this extra amount that ebay are now charging buyers that will cause headaches for sellers.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

Some items can be very profitable. My prices are not low but the market dictates what something is worth. If you can sell it for a high profit good for you. It is possible. It takes some knowledge to know what can sell for more. It depends who is your customer and what is their budget.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

Ill be honest with you if i bought something for £20 I'd be asking allot more than £40. But mine will be new with a guarantee. it would be around £50

Sellers tend to be a lot more savvy.

Buyers tend to be a lot more opportunist and hopeful.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

But as a business that's only to be accepted.

I meant something like everyday Joe buying something for 20 from a business or company and then trying to sell 40 is my gripe.

Not only wanting their money back but wanting the same amount to splash on something else.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

I always tell them the set minimum offer price. I figure that's what it's there for. If an offer comes in over that i always accept it.  Not many people seem to try best offer but sometimes they use all 3 offers with cheeky offers and then ask what you would accept. It's really about how long you've had the item on sale but I don't like turning people away.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

As for me it depends on how long it has been hanging there but also, whether it is a seasonal item, whether it takes space in my house. I also like to shift cheaper goods sooner.

Re: What is your best / lowest price?

It's ok to ask. It's ok to answer. You're not being dissed or held at gunpoint. Relax.

PS the last time I asked, they ignored me. Their loss.
PPS the last time I asked before that, they sent me an offer worse than their offer was already. Their loss.

I did explain why - because ebay is stupid and I needed them to send me an offer so I could use a payment method that isn't for some reason allowed when you make an offer.  (because ebay now wants to take the money instantly and can I guess only use certain methods to do that) Stupid ebay. Stupid. Stupid. Stu pid.
