Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

I’m a member for 14 years - I have today complained fiercely to EBay with regards to 4% + 75p charge on each item purchased as we all know this is a Back Door way of recovering the Seller Fees which were scrapped recently - Buyers already have adequate protection - as to payment 2 days after delivery - we’re at the mercy of Royal Mail to scan all  items when collected (not guaranteed) 😡

Fellow  members I urge you to let your disproval known - SHAME ON YOU Ebay😡😡

Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

Thanks will have a look. My account has been a nightmare they put me into
business for postage without asking international was loads more than i
normally charge have managed to opt out. Yes i've got loads of listings but
they have built up over years doesn't mean i've sold thousands and the
feedbacks are 20 years buying as well as selling. Got a nasty comment on
here they don't know my situation or anybody else's. I want to stay on here
if i can and work out how to keep people happy. I'm like a corner shop
always giving refunds for postage without being asked, gift wrap some
items, here 7 days a week, we built this up for Ebay in the first place

But at least they are honest and the buyer can see what is added on Ebay
will just lump it all together, my new listings will state what my price is
and anything extra is added by Ebay

Was thinking exactly the same. A UK based legit one would be super.

I doubt it the 4% will be added anyway for the total including
postage, taxes but i'm thinking of doing a refund to help buyers not sure
how much yet after the sale and taking single things off and making a
listing for a persons multiple sales so there will only be one 75p

Yes i've told them afraid to buy now because i will have to save up money
from sales to buy postage from what they are holding and that can only be
large letters and parcels because i only use royal mail collect, Ebay do
have that option, but charging signed for letter is just not on people
won't pay it for a single cheap postcard

I've cancelled one of my two private accounts - one for buying, one for selling, and have removed all but one item for sale (which ends in less than 24 hours). So no more selling - no more buying. Buy buy (sic) Ebay.

I've looked at Vinted and the extra added is clearly shown. I also noted
that they add 75p to a £1 item and 90p to a £4 item

What a strange thing to do.  If you'd waited until the change you don't like had arrived and THEN cancelled, or at least ended all your listings, you'd be sending a signal to ebay along with others.  But doing it now, you're just part of the regular churn.

Oh i will, hate ripping people off am always refunding postage and giving
extra. Tend to hoard postcards and most of what i make is spent on more.
Have just emptied the attic to clear things before i die and the sons won't
have the mess to sort. The whole house is a hoard tbh stuff collected over
many years

Profit margins??? where did i mention that? I'm not looking to make a
profit and hourly wage? i don't have staff, pay myself, most of what i make
i use to buy more stuff i don't need. Maybe i need some mental health
treatment to stop my hoarding problem. There was an asylum in my town but
they turned it into fancy flats so no help there then

I'm seeing all these things addressed to me and have just realised that
they are other people talking to each other. I didn't have a go at you
about the hair slides it was a valid point

We made Ebay what it is. The big business sellers mostly have their own
websites anyway. Yes they don't like us at all do they. No need to worry in
the end we will be paying fees (and more than we used to) one way or the
other

If the 'nasty comment' was one neutral (for a mislaid item which you immediately refunded), don't let it bother you; you still have 100% positive feedback. When I see a neutral or just one negative I look to see what other feedback that particular buyer has left others - some people just leave lots of negatives and neutrals with little justification.

I think we will see a lot more multiple sales to offset the buyers fee; I have only bought once from Vinted and found the extra fee very off-putting; personally would rather return to the sellers fees.
