A buyer bought 3 low value items which each separately had simple delivery so the buyer paid for 3 postage labels. The items were all clothing tops and the labels were RM large letter. Trying to be helpful to the buyer I posted two tops in one large letter (the third would not fit because of large letter size limits). So I used only two of the three labels the buyer paid for. I assumed that ebay would refund the buyer the unused postage label.
As there is no evidence of delivery for the item where I did not use the label ebay have not released funds/paid me for it - it is 'awaiting delivery'. The other item in the same package has been delivered. I messaged the buyer to ask if they could confirm that they had received the item, and tried to explain why I was asking. The buyer's reply implies that they did receive the item but their English is not perfect so it does not explicitly say this.
I now realise that I should have just used all three postage labels. I am just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and if they managed to get ebay to pay them. I am also wondering if unused postage labels are in fact refunded to the buyer who paid for them.
I have previously spent (wasted) too much time attempting to explain issues to chatbots so I thought I would ask here before trying ebay 'help' which in my experience does not often help!
The amount in question is small, and I can write it off and learn from experience, but just interested to find out if anyone has persuaded ebay to pay out in such circumstances. Thank you.
