The BPF is nothing more than a tariff.

After Trump slapped tariffs on a raft of international goods, it occurred to me that this is what eBay have done to private sellers.   The BPF is nothing more than a tariff that have made our goods less competitive.  My sales have plummeted since 4th Feb and I no longer feel the loyalty to eBay that I used to.  On three occasions now I have switched to Amazon to purchase goods, whereas in the past I would have stuck with eBay. (I hold a Nectar card too, but eBay did away with that, making it less attractive to buy from eBay.)  The changes on Feb 4th have certainly chipped away at my eBay customer loyalty.  From what I'm reading at this forum, it appears that other private sellers are feeling the same way.

Another gripe: Yesterday I had to call eBay CS about an order that I sent out using Royal Mail 48 hour tracked which promises to deliver your parcel within the 48-hour window.  Well, guess what, Royal Mail took 3 days to successfully deliver my parcel.  I called eBay CS to clarify when MY money would hit my bank account and they told me 2 days after delivery had been confirmed.  So, in this instance, I sent my parcel out on 1st April and it arrived on 5th April.  Now I need to wait unit 7th April for the money to hit my account, which means that I have had to wait a week to get my money and not "2 days".  It's really annoying.

Just read this in The Guardian newspaper: "Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will pause shipments of its UK-made cars to the US for a month as it considers how to mitigate the cost of Donald Trump’s tariffs.  The 25% tariff imposed by the US on imported cars and light trucks took effect on 3 April."  Those damned tariffs have really upset the apple cart.  I suppose the next thing will be an international recession.

Yes, The BPF is in effect just a partial replacement for the old seller fees.

Royal Mail Tracked 48 is not a guaranteed service and despite its name actually has a delivery aim of 2 to 3 days, the same as Royal Mail 2nd class.

The withholding of funds was a shameful act by feeBay management who have no idea what living from hand to mouth is like.

I would rather be poorer than be a slave to these shapeshifting money grabbing creeps.

Exactly.  Many private sellers, myself included, are selling off their possessions because they need the extra money to get by.  By putting tariffs on this income stream, you are putting some of the most vulnerable in our society at risk.  For many in the UK, it's a question of eat or heat.  A few sales at eBay enable poorer people to do both.  Prior to Feb 4th, I used to spend the money from sales on items at eBay, but now I need the money so it all goes back to my bank account.  My loyalty to eBay has dropped to below zero.
