i was looking up things with this simple delivery and it says the following about delivery costs
When you create a listing, you'll see an estimated "starting from" delivery cost for standard home delivery. Buyers can choose between standard or express delivery, which have different prices. Delivery costs can also change based on the item's final sale price. Additionally, we may periodically provide promotional offers that discount or provide free delivery. For buyers purchasing multiple items from you, combined postage could be available. After the sale, you can check the delivery cost paid by the buyer in the Order Details, Postage Labels section in My eBay, your order confirmation, and the postage label invoice
this to me sounds like it is ebay who sorts the delivery costs out for the buyer...is this correct because if so it is the final nail in the coffin because i add a bit extra to postage costs because we have to buy packing materials etc. so 2nd class £1.55 via royal mail but i charge £1.80 so it pays for the padded envelope etc
if ebay decided the postage cost this means they expect sellers to pay out of little profit for padded envelopes etc

If buyer selects postage option, then for Royal Mail collect from sender I guess seller gets to choose day of collection?
Sometimes I organise for collection day after sale and other times if sale is late in evening then day after is for packing item and collect day after that.
I always communicate with the buyer to say when it’s being sent and give them a tracking number.
Also you build a relationship with buyer also that way aka you care about sale and them getting item in a timely fashion. Sometimes buyer asks for a delay in sending.

I dont think there is an option for collect from sender. I think its either print out the label and drip off or use the bar code at the post office. Unless they choose Evri of course.

oh sorry this is not really what i meant...but with what you said know that collection of parcels will not be allowed when using the new simple delivery on ebay anyway.
i was meaning though...when i create a listing now i choose postage price and postage options that the buyer can choose from. the new simple delivery thats coming in feb..and being enforced in march for everyone it sounds as if it will be Ebay themselves who chooses the postage prices that the buyer will pay
my issue if thats the case is postage costs do not just cover the exact cost to post the item but for alot like me it includes the cost of the padded envelopes used since i have to buy them out my own money and so that cost for me has to be passed to the buyer and so for 2nd class delivery i charge £1.80 which is £1.55 for what royal mail charges and the rest is the envelope, tape and label and if i have to line with card for more security.

That’s me stuffed then and another reason to call it a day after 24 years on eBay and selling for 21 years.
I don’t have the capacity to drive to the post office some days due to treatment for cancer and I have Royal Mail collect and bring a pre printed label.
I sold 220 items last year via Royal Mail collect service.
Glad I have now sold off most of my coin collection now and autographed pictures.
I will list one more item on auction for a week this Sunday and then call it a day.

while i never used the collection service i am stuffed as you are because the items i was to list... all would not have sold anyway and be a waste of time because tracked delivery as well as fees would put the total price a buyer pays to at least £7.10 for a item thats sold for 3-3.50 never gonna sell
plus if i now can not add my own price for delivery where i added a bit on to cover postage costs like envelopes etc that means i would further have to bump the items price up more to cover or take a loss where i will basically be giving stuff away and making nothing

Somebody just said on another thread that collection is available to book once you get your label.

actually on ebay own simple delivery page it states no collections
Collection is not currently available for Simple Delivery. If you would like your item collected, you should opt out of Simple Delivery when creating your listing.
so no collections, also it states opt out to use collections but issue here is we can only opt out on lisitings till march....march it becomes mandatory so no choice to opt out then

For low value items it's better taking yourself to AliExpress as they have a far wider choice and I always check them before committing to buy anything on eBay. In most cases it's a better deal on Aliexpress, particularly with user images and videos uploaded to the product page with their feedback. They also have a buyer protection plan, and they give partial or full refunds when the item doesn't arrive on time. It's worth making written lists of what you want to buy and then do it in bulk so you can take advantage of combined shipping and the numerous money off vouchers they have site-wide. eBay has no real feedback on product pages beyond seller's feedback, which is automated now anyway. eBay is a dinosaur.
I have already reported eBay to Ofcom regarding their "free to sell" advert campaign which has proven to be highly misleading, then just a few short weeks later sellers being forced to lose £1.75 of the item's value snatched by eBay, who think they can skirt around the rules by pretending that the customer pays for it, when in reality customers will go elsewhere where the item is priced at it's actual value without a £1.75 premium tax for being an eBay customer unless the seller takes the hit to sell it at market rates.
It's no different to when Uber, Deliveroo etc started slapping fees on both the customer side and the business side after spending money advertising to bring in customers, and would you credit it, there's been a massive drop in the use of such services and the revenue of the companies has only accelerated the losses.
Whether you choose to look at it as the buyer having to pay even more tax on top of the 20% VAT the treasury steals, or as a massive scam on eBay having rug pulled private sellers after spending so much money on advertising to revive a dying platform, the end result is the same - it's more expensive for buyers to come to eBay, and they will lose any loyalty they had to the site.
Just download the info you need, withdraw the last of your funds, and then use the "close account" button by searching in the help guide on the main site.
