Simple delivery

Can someone please explain to how I can. Send a parcel that is more than 61cm using SD. I’ve just generated a qr code and realised the label is for a parcel that has a max length of 61cm. And because I’ve generated the qr code I can’t see the buyers address

It's something you would have do during the listing process.   When you click on the packet size box you will get the various size options in a pop-up.   Scroll down to the bottom of the pop-up list and you'll see a link that says:
"Looking for heavier or larger package options?   Switch to custom postage."
Then you'll be able to set your own postage.   Use a browser on a laptop or desktop device.

If you want to do that now you would have to cancel/refund with buyer's agreement and relist as above.

Yes, it seems the only solution is to cancel, refund & relist - but no-one likes to have to do this. Not all buyers are happy to comply, or particularly understanding about the reason. eBay have dropped us all in it with this half-baked 'Simple Delivery'...

If you had offered free p&p, you could have applied for a refund for the unused Simple Delivery label, but if the buyer has paid the postage, the buyer would get the refund... what a fiddle it has turned posting an item into... 😖

If the buyer has paid the postage, the buyer will get the refund. If you paid for the postage by offering free postage, you will get the refund, but you have to apply for it - it is not automatically refunded to you.

this happened to me today, and, i had to cancel the order and refund the buyer.  he was ok about it, but, has bought from elsewhere so i lost a £75 sale.

i contacted ebay support, and, they suggested i should not use the label (they would refund the buyer the postage) and I should buy my own label with evri who would take the parcel.

they did not understand that i would then be out of pocket,  as there is no way to add postage to the order, and of course, asking for payment outside of ebay is against the eBay rules.

interestingly, i have five listings for this same product (different quality \ condition), so, i went to edit them.

They of course converted to dumb delivery, but 3 of them would not allow me to select oversized item (the option was not there), but, 2 of them did.

So, i have had to add text to my items stating to buyers they must select EVRI as i cannot remove royal mail from the courier options (as this will remove royal mail from ALL my items), but, if they select royal mail, i cannot ship to them as the items are 100cm plus packing in length (despite only weighting 1.5kg)

another example of BUGS in dumb delivery.  it is not fit for purpose, but, the only way to avoid it is changing to a business account and loosing 15% of the sale value - which pretty much takes 75% of my profit away.  ie  no point selling anymore
