It's just stupid. A massive oversight from Ebay.
So I have to pack every item I sell before I list and sell it.
How else am I going to know how much it weighs?????
Ridiculous idea
Why cant I use all the other senders Yodel Parcelforce DHL etc etc

Yes but you are royally goosed if they choose the cheapest price for post for a thimble as opposed to a medium sized box.

I assume you mean the buyers choose ... If you have set the price yourself, or chosen the correct size/weight for Simple Delivery, the buyer wouldn't be able to choose a lower weight option.
So they may have to pay more when it arrives or post office may refuse and I will have to pay.
If you are talking about SD, and using a label for a size/weight that ebay recommended, the PO shouldn't refuse it, and it would be neither yourself or the buyer that would be asked to pay extra, but eBay as they are the ones with the contract with RM.
Also if I set my own post cost it covers box, tape, bubbles and trip. Is there a risk that Royal Mail will stop receiving under stamped items. Its a nightmare.
Add your packaging costs to the item price. RM have told all POs to accept overweight items as long as they are within the overall size/weight limit. If your PO doesn't, tell them to check with RM/use another PO/avoid POs altogether and use Parcel Boxes, Delivery/Sorting Offices only.

Yes of course it is your right to choose how you want to post but it is also Ebay's right to choose how their site works. I'm sure there are other selling sites where you are able to choose your posting options but it looks like Ebay is not for you.
