Simple Delivery - not an equitable service

I don't like being penalised for having a disability.  Earlier in the year, a customer chose Evri.  I am housebound (disabled) I have Royal Mail collect my items.  Once earlier in the year a Customer chose Evri.   I have always used 48 Royal Mail tracked. On that occasion it took a week for me to get someone to take it to a locker box.  I had not paid attention to simple delivery and thought I had done something wrong.  Last week two more simple delivery purchases.  It took another week to get someone to take it to an drop box.  I have shut my shop for the Christmas, considering my options as I cannot get to an Evri lock drop.  Leaving is a option I am considering. 50/50.  I will look into the opt out option and continue to use Royal Mail.  I have to find where Ebay has hidden that option.   Long story short, Evri is not a viable option for me.  So it is going to cost me.

Ebay's explanation of the changes are very poor, deliberately I guess.  For someone who has always used Royal Mail 48 tracked,  I see each change as a money grabbing initiative, it certainly has not not improve mine or my customers experience.  The aim of each initiative is obvious, despite the excuse given.  Ebay is becoming an unpleasant partner to work with.  Or maybe they are trying to get rid of private sellers.  Good ploy if they are.

Simple Delivery - not an equitable service

While you ponder the suggestion of changing to a business account, you can opt out of using Evri in your settings, and book free collections from Royal Mail.

Members that buy goods to sell have to sell using an ebay business account in order to comply with a number of laws.  This is particularly important when selling something people put on their skin.

Business accounts don't have Simple Delivery.

You are not being penalised for being disabled, you are being penalised for having a private 'business' account. As simple delivery is only for private sellers and you are obviously a business why don't you just change your account to a business, then you can use whatever postage you like.

Honestly, how can you in good faith call yourself a private seller.

It is patently obvious that you are a business.

Have you even registered yourself as self employed?
If you haven't, then you may find yourself in trouble with HMRC when Ebay report your sales to them.

Simple solution as others have said, comply with rules and use a business account!

This is certainly one of the more open and shut cases.

Just a tad!  🙂

To be fair though, they don't appear to have sold an awful lot, so are more than likely under the threshold for registering as self employed.  But that doesn't excuse not using the correct account I'm afraid.

Although this poster maybe a business, discrimination against the disabled is a conversation Ebay won't have. It costs more to use RM if you deselect Evri. Even if you decide that is the only option for you, you cannot guarantee Ebay will not send you an Evri label anyway. At the very least sellers ought to be able to guarantee which service they use.
