Not that I have any intention of using it beacuse Evri, but the blurb on the listing page says:
'Get a pre-paid Royal Mail or Evri label that's tracked and fully protected in case of loss or damage in transit.'
However, the T's & C's say under Liability for Loss or Damage and Compensation that:
'Once your item has been scanned into the carrier’s network and providing you used the Simple Delivery label and are compliant with these Terms and eBay’s Policies, as well as the relevant Carrier Terms, your item will be covered for loss or damage during transit.....'
So if you are selling something that is not prohibited by Ebay, the blurb would make you think that it was covered no matter what it is. The T's & C's say different. As an example, vinyl records (and plenty of other things) are excluded from compensation by Evri:

Sounds like mis-selling to me. Could become a real problem if SD every becomes compulsory.

"as well as the relevant Carrier Terms"
If an item is excluded, such as vinyl records, I assume the above means the item would not meet carrier terms and so no compensation if it gets lost in transit?
Think ebay have got everything pretty much covered so that any deviation from the terms will excuse them from paying out.

You can remove Evri from the options:

Unless there's been another update I haven't seen yet the so called "sellers choice" was a cheat by eBay.
As soon as they announced it they left a backdoor for themselves allowing them to override your choice whenever they need/want to.
The sellers choice in it's original form is worthless because the only time it gets used is if the buyer and AI system makes the same choice.
You only have to think about how they originally announced Simple Delivery to realise they were just giving false comfort in that update.
In it's original form the BUYER chooses from the options the AI gives them.

The 'Restricted List' for Evri and RM (and almost every other delivery company) is hysterically long
(basically everything that is either breakable or worth anything!)
If Simple Delivery becomes compulsory (which it is *supposed* to eventually...) ebay are going to have to have an equivalently sized list of goods that are able to be listed *without* the Simple Del. system.
You can't be forced to post breakables uninsured, and then be expected to pay for any postal damage because you were unable to choose your own insured service...... surely??

Using EDD as a comparison I'd wager eBay plan to deflect as much as possible. Blame everyone else for their bull*bleep*.
When I was selling, the best way I could describe the EDD's for my listings were that eBay was false selling. Considering the combination of 5 working day turnarounds and Royal Mail 48 Tracked a 2 day EDD isn't just unlikely, it's virtually impossible. Didn't stop them telling buyers that though and if it doesn't get there in that timeframe who does the buyer blame? The seller .. and then the seller has to prove that eBay are the lying sacks of *bleep*.
I'd bet they have something similar planned for Simple Delivery.

Even the buyer does not get a choice. When a buyer sees simple delivery they are given a choice of either regular or express delivery at a certain price for each. But they are not told which carrier these are for.
