Like many others i have used ebay for a couple of decades and i am being driven away from it becuase the charges for selling are getting outrageous and cannot be justified. I also hate the way they hold onto your money just to make the interest on it. Dont they think people need that money themselves to pay urgent bills or buy stock?
In addition to this it annoys me when i put a link to information on an external website such as Wikipedia, in the description, about an item and the AI removes the listing saying im trying to sell via an external site. It makes you login again to supposedly resolve it, i would have thought just do an edit, but no, it tells you you cant resolve it and the listing has been deleted!
I will probably continue to buy on ebay now and again but im not going to sell anything anymore.
EBay is destroying its own customer base. Stupid and greedy.

The obvious point is the Private Sellers shouldn't be buying "stock"; they should be only be selling personal possessions that they no longer want. Buying or Making to sell makes them a Business according to both e-Bay and English Law.
I agree with you about not being able to link to external sources of information though.

.
It's a potential security issue. Somebody could place a dodgy link in their listing spoofed to look like a genuine one. That's why eBay don't permit links to third party websites.
Just copy and paste any relevant info into your listing description.
To protect our members, listings or products can’t contain links that direct customers to a site other than eBay, even if the link is not clickable.
While there are some exceptions, listings or item descriptions can't contain links that direct customers to any other site.
