I'll add exact wording once the Q4 earnings call is over and a transcript is available but just FYI - CEO Jamie Iannone just said Simple Delivery mandate has been pushed to Q2 and they are working on adding a seller-paid free shipping option to the Simple Delivery program.

That's such a relief that i will have to pay for free postage which will probably cost more than my item, where do they come up with these things from it's unbelievable

@parsley2003 again, I'll provide the exact wording after the call but the context did not indicate it would be a "have to", instead it will be an option sellers can choose if they want the buyer to be able to see free shipping on the listing with the seller baking the cost into the item price like they have been able to do with previous shipping options.
I'm not saying it's a great solution 😂, just want to be clear that from how it was said, it does sound like that part will be optional and sellers will not be required to use it.

It's ok the whole thing is a mess i can only use RM collection and when it does come in unless we offer both for SD, RM and Evri, the one which we choose will have a higher price than usual which will make buyers less likely to buy from us , their words not mine. At present it looks like invoicing has been removed and combined postage is off the cards so i don't see much hope at all for the future of the private seller. Like someone said just tell us to go instead of all this unpleasant pushing

Thank goodness for that....
Those of us who were ready to pack up and leave at the end of Q1, have now got a couple of months more grace. Then hopefully the 'mandatory' part is dumped!
(I wonder if the CEO will be looking for another job soon...😆)
Thank you, valueadded 😊

OK here's what I have about Simple Delivery from reviewing my recording of the call - keep in mind I am but a humble transcriptionist, not the author of any corporate word salad or obfuscation and please don't shoot the messenger. 😂
CEO Jamie Iannone said:
During Q4 we also began to gradually ramp up or managed shipping program for UK C2C sellers, which is live on an opt out basis with Royal Mail and Evri as our initial carriers.
Managed shipping, which is shown to UK customers as Simple Delivery, offers simplicity, lower costs, improved transparency, and great protection against loss or damage, while generating incremental revenue and operating income for eBay.
We've been listening to our sellers feedback during the ramp phase and are launching multiple enhancement to make this program's value proposition even stronger in the coming months.
For instance, we recently gave sellers the ability to select which carriers they're comfortable shipping with. We will soon add a free shipping option with the cost of pre-paid labels automatically deducted from sellers' earnings.
We are in the process of adding new carriers that support bulky and heavier items and we plan to introduce out of home pick up and drop off capabilities which many UK customers value due to their convenience, lower cost, privacy, security and environmental benefits.
We will continue to ramp Managed Shipping throughout Q1 as we add features and fine tune the program and plan to begin mandating it for UK C2C sellers during Q2.

Thank you so much @valueaddedresource
It appears though you still have to purchase labels through ebay?
Is that correct or have I misunderstood?

I was hoping the 'free shipping' option would allow me to sort out my own shipping but apparently not ☹️
27-02-2025 12:16 AM
Me too... oh well looks like SD is still a no go!

@vintique*violet what I wrote above is literally all that was said, so I want to be careful not to suggest or infer anything that wasn't said....
...that being said 😂, since he said the cost for the pre-paid label would be automatically deducted from the seller's earnings then yes, I agree with your assessment that would mean the seller will still have to use the label provided by eBay.

Understood... thank you again... was hoping the CEO would listen to how SD would affect, obviously not... Think I will extend my " holiday" break another few weeks and see what pans out😉 if anything.

Thanks @valueaddedresource for bringing the news.
Seems eBay are determined to channel all postage through them to feed their greed with their grubby little hands.

So a business wants to mandate a consumer service. That's interesting.
I like how they refer to C2C the whole time, like it's one or both of the consumer parties deciding Simple Delivery should be mandatory.

I think they have done a lot of listening and made quite a few positive changes as a result. I think the mandate bit is still a concern though.

lets hope it is to the end of Q2 as well, still have plenty of items active.

hopes raised and dashed again! It is now becoming a principle thing for me, old and stubborn maybe but the more they try to force it the more i am agin' it

Just to reiterate, you are a star! So much more informative than e bay itself. Thank you for all your efforts.

I'm with you for this , as I'm sure countless others are, that is, not to see SD become mandatory, but I fear the last line in @valueaddedresource excellent, informative post from CEO Jamie Lannone, does not bode well for this wish:

Quite a few? So far they have made one, the option to deselect Evri or RM.
At least we now have confirmation that it IS still going to be mandatory, even though some people suggested the User Agreement said otherwise!

& they even allowed themselves a backdoor escape to that one change. There's a clause that still allows them to override your choice.
Basically making the choice worthless.
