Product reviews as negative feedback reviews

I always ask to have them removed, but they don't appear to violate the policy. It doesn't seem logical. Example of a recent one I got:

"Paint was incredibly watery. Not a good brand"

The buyer didn't contact me about the item.

Is this working as intended?

It would seem so to me, because positive feedback reviews can also be entirely product reviews. But I would see what you think.

If they used the paint, which they presumably did in order to arrive at that conclusion, then they wouldn't be able to return it so left a negative feedback with that comment, which makes sense why they didn't bother to contact you first.

Oh yeah, I get that. The paint isn't faulty or not-as-described. It's just inadequate for the buyer.

Product reviews as negative feedback reviews

A tricky one.

Feedback is a direct score of the sellers performance. If a product was *bleep* that some seller sold, is that the fault of the seller? Unless defective, no. It's either *bleep* or just not to their tastes. Bleeps are put in by me as I know they'd be 'bleeped' if I said the actual words.

I had one neutral the other week along the lines of 'xl is too small for me'. Well, it's not my fault as a seller. They received the exact non defective item they ordered. Measurements provided (that they couldn't be bothered to check) were exact. They only couldn't return it as they are overseas buyer using freight forwarding so by time it arrived with them, the return window for sizing had gone (and even so, it would have cost them a fair whack to send it back at their expense).

So I feel product reviews as negatives are BS and eBay should remove them. Your buyer may have experience with other paint brands which was different and so if they perceive that paint as *bleep* (as it's different), it's not on the seller at all and eBay should remove it.

The only thought I have is that this negative is against a 'private listing'  which means that buyers cannot see any positive feedback left for that product to balance the viewpoint.

If a buyer sees some positive feedback and one opinion as to the paint quality your other buyers will negate this comment - with the listing being 'private' it can work against you - buyers may think you are hiding the listing because it is receiving poor feedback or is poor quality.

ebay are using feedback as both order experiance and product review - the problem is that they should work in tandem not in isolation which creates a conflict.

Quick delivery, good communication, reasonable price, good description  but a poor product experiance  is both negative and positive - as a buyer what would you choose ? It's not easy to decide.

I got one recently complaining they looked like Harry Hill in the shirt I sold them.

Just looked at your negs out of curiosity - you have had a couple of unfair harsh customers  but the Harry Hill look alike has to be the best negative comment ever !

ROFL.  I'd have told him to go start a comedy career!  🙂

Any buyer checking your negs and neutrals would be so SO reassured by how you handle such 'problems'.  If I were still buying clothing I'd put you on my go to list.
