I bought a track48 label through eBay and this morning a nice lady at the Post Office said that track48 with the YA number is not accepted and that I should contact the seller. does anyone have a similar problem? did ebay uk sell me a fake label?

I took mine Saturday and was told same as you and he said come back Monday so i did (15 mins drive each way !!). This time he showed me a note on his phone to say it would be accepted but no receipt would be printed. Fine so i left it.
Tracking has not moved still showing same as yesterday that it was prepared Saturday lunch time (one hour after i took it first time and a day after i printed the label). No idea whether my customer will get his parcel. I have written to them to explain their is a tracking problem and hope they will get it soon. Did that so it is recorded against my ebay account as not my fault. Fortunately it is only a £7 order so can survive but how annoying. I hate the Ebay's postage system . Never had a problem doing my own but it won;t let me do that anymore.

Mine is the same. I sent 2 parcels yesterday. One updates at 10:30am and the other still hasn’t been updated as received by hub or sent by me.

Further to my post yesterday, both my parcels tracking were picked up at the Midlands Sorting Office so everything now back on track.
I'll have no hesitation in taking latest YA sale to the Post office today.

Yes we have had the same problem, I think it may be only eBay so best go direct to Royal Mail and down load a label same price for 48 hour tracked.

6 out of the 9 items I posted yesterday have updated. Worryingly, 3 have not. Also Royal Mail tracking page seems to be having issues. Never rains but it pours.

Just thought I’d add my experience with this. I bought my Tracked 48 label yesterday direct from Royal Mail (nothing to do with eBay), so it confirmed it’s an issue with Tracked 48 labels started with the letters “YA”
Didn’t realise there was an issue until the gentleman at the post office informed me, and said there was an issue with tracking but would accept it and give me a proof of postage. He also recommended I take a picture of the label before handing it to him. My proof of postage was a receipt with no tracking number, and had just the house number and post code.
Was a little worried, however I hear that it’s just a post office issue (their systems haven’t been updated to accept the new YA labels afaik) and that Royal Mail themselves can scan YA labels just fine. So if you can take your parcels to your local delivery office, RM lockers, Collect+ stores (so I’m told) or have it collected by the postie, parcels can be scanned/accepted as normal.
After dropping off my parcel at 2:45pm at the PO, My parcel was scanned early this morning at the hub, so it shows it’s entered the system. So aslong as it’s collected from the post office (which it will), it’ll be scanned at a MC/hub and tracking will update.
I had another order yesterday, but wanted to wait and see what would happen with my first parcel. My nearest RM locker wasn’t working for whatever reason, so instead opted to pay the 30p for collection - can confirm that was scanned by the postie and tracking updated with no issue.
Hopefully this is sorted soon (if not already), as it’s a massive faff for everyone. Hopefully my experience can put someone’s mind at ease.

It’s not eBay ..it’s Royal Mail, customers are having problems with this due to them updating the tracking systems to a new YA prefix but then not updating the systems of regional Post Offices ..its the Horizon system at fault, again..
People selling on Etsy, Vinted, etc etc are all reporting the same issue, after taking our parcel to two different local Post Offices we did as advised by another on this forum, dropped the parcel off at a Royal Mail Post Box at our sorting centre, it went off later that evening with no problem from there, and tracking worked.
eBay should at least have let us know before printing these dratted labels off, that there was a problem .. instead of a tiny message that later appeared on their Help page .. 🙄

If its the Horizon System, then its a post office issue...
Royal Mail is a different company and they don't use Horizon. I'm gonna guess that Royal Mail has changed their prefixes, and The post office ( Horizon ) have not updated their systems to reflect the RM changes

Sounds about right !
If our parcel went ok from Royal Mail Post Box but our two local Post Offices were flummoxed with no info on their systems, they are obviously being let down again by the dreaded Fujitsu Horizon, there was a major outage in July with the Post Offices not being updated with payment systems after Fujitsu crashed .. roll on ending contract with Fujitsu in March 2026 (hopefully) ..

I'm guessing Fujitsu rebooted their Horizon server again after their last outage 😮

What do you expect from Royal Mail they rip every on off with delivery, top prices with slow services.

RM is worse than Evri? RM is my go to service

I’m quite concerned - I sold an Xbox 360 and a PS5 Pro console (£584!) and took them to my local post office yesterday around 2pm. Post office have been advised to take parcels looking online which explains why I was a little confused to not have a receipt from them. But anyway I’m now worried as both my items had no confirmation of being dropped off at the post office and my Xbox 360 has reached my local depot and been scanned in (both parcels are Tracked 48 YA code) however the more expensive PS5 has still not been updated despite my Xbox 360 being logged at the depot 8:14am this morning. Why didn’t eBay warn us about this! I would never have dropped off such an expensive item if I knew the post office was taking parcels without receipts!

I post 9 items when all this was going on. I asked for and got printed proof of postage for each one. Some where tracked as being at the hub this morning. Slowly they've each come back on the radar. The last one about an hour ago. I'm not sure how it all works and why some take longer than others. Hopefully, yours will show as being tracked soon. It's been a worry for everyone who posted stuff with the dodgy YA prefixes.

Sorry. Some 'were' not some 'where'
