Pricing

Anyone notice an influx of crazy prices? Many of my higher throughput items have kinda fallen off which is inevitable sometimes however having a look around many of the items are now listed by others by as much as 60-65% off!

These are items that where steadily selling for me at my listed price so it seems absolutely insane to me to come along and cut the value of a product by this much! It used to be that folk would undercut by pennies now talking large percentages really does seem a little odd. Are these people doing no research? Just a bit clueless? I mean profit margins matter so really they are just loosing out 🤷‍♂️ in some cases significantly !

I know some are resellers with private accounts so avoiding fees that way so can reduce price due to this or pretending to be local when actually china. I could match their prices but then the profits for me are extremely thin. I guess just a bit of a rant but it doesn't really make sense to me or well anyone else I know in business.. anyone else noticed?

Re: Pricing

Some Sellers will reduce an item's' price by a large percentage to get Buyers coming to their site. They are hoping the Buyers will purchase some of their other stock at the normal price as well & this is where they get their profit.

This has always been a way of selling by drawing Buyers in.

Re: Pricing

Can't say this is what this looks like with the vast majority of listings but you never know.. in any case many other sellers have followed suit on quite a few of the products and reduced and it really all this means is the item is permanently devalued and isn't a deal per say to get folk in anymore.. hey ho I guess such is life.

Re: Pricing

That may well be the case if your running your own website, but frankly that makes little sense when talking about Ebay.

Buyers are interested in the item they are looking for, rather than what the seller may also have.
Unless you are talking something that is fairly niche.
