A medical moulage display piece has sold to a buyer in Mexico. When I have come to pack it and arrange postage, I am seeing that Mexico seems to have virtually everything on its prohibited list. Apparently 'Works of art; collector´s pieces and antiques' are prohibited as are 'Optical; Photographic; cinematographic; measuring; checking; precision; medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and
accessories thereof; massage appliances and prostheses. Obscene and immoral articles'. Am i right in thinking I am going to have to refund the buyer? Any help from those who have posted to Mexico greatly appreciated.

Mexico is a nightmare as regards what's restricted, it's one of the countries I've blocked.
I've looked at your listing, but as you say 'Works of art; collectors pieces and antiques' are prohibited, so I can't see what you can possibly put on the CN22 to match that that'll get it through (I must say, that is the weirdest item I've seen in years!).
It's a bit expensive to take that risk, in my opinion.

Well, I suppose it depends on what it's actually a display of .... (having had a quick look on google, I've seen some that look like fake hands etc.....)
Big question is ; is it expensive? (and you have to have the price of the object on the customs label in order for the postal insurance to be covered) If it's a very expensive item it might attract attention, so my following sneaky ideas may not be great....
Is it something that in anyway could be descibed as a *toy* ?
Or possible just write it down as a 'plastic model'....? or even 'second hand plastic moulage toy' !
get inventive with your description 😏
I think 'used' or 'second hand' is important in this sort of thing ; makes things sound a bit less-than interesting .
This may all seem a tad dishonest, 😈 but a lot of customs declaration stuff depends on how you describe it, and 99 times out of 100 it'll be fine.
No country has the time to open every parcel that goes into their system, and as long as you don't have anything that set off alarms in x-ray machines etc and is nothing dangerous or flamable, well...it'll probably be OK...
Depends on whether you want to chance being the unlucky 1 out of 100 !😎
(tin hat on now, ready for the brick bats for 'dishonesty'!)

Thank you for your kind reply, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, would you believe toys are on the prohibited list too? Seriously. The item is £125 and it features two wax faces on a wooden plinth with bloodied noses. I actually really need the sale and don't want to disappoint anyone but I would be gutted if it got destroyed. Maybe second hand plastic moulage is the way to go.

Toys!!
blimey, you really are up against it here.... and it's not a cheap thing 😟
For £125.00, I'd probably be tempted to cancel and apologise profusely to the buyer.
Then do what Vyolla said..... block Mexico ..☹️

Thank you, you're right and it is a weird item 😃, I even wondered if it it might fail under the 'obscene and immoral articles' if someone found it a bit macabre!!! I think now I will refund and block Mexico. Thank you so much.

Thank you again, you have really helped me to consider all aspects of this and I am going to refund and block. It's not worth the risk and I have a chance to stop a disaster!
