Post Office turning away eBay sold packages

FOR GOODNESS SAKE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH eBAY ???

Visited my local Post Office outlet this pm. The customer in front of me had 4 of her items sold on eBay refused due to incorrect printed labels supplied by fleece-bay. The member of staff confirmed this customer was not the first to be turned away today.

I am sure that I read, eBay stated Post Offices will accept all items for dispatch.

Thats another incorrect bit of information from eBay.

The question I have, is what does that poor seller now do with those 4 items ??

OKAY, eBAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH … GET IT SORTED.

The labels ARE clearly marked eBay. This is what they look like.

ah...I had thrown away the one I had received - had only noticed the large Marketplace Seller bit, not the small eBay Simple Delivery bit

Kath,

You're getting silly now. Nobody has ever said eBay does not have incompetent management, and I doubt anyone ever will, but in this instance, the issue is clearly one of communication within the post office organisation.

In real life, although eBay's incompetent CS may say it's the sellers' fault, I would suggest the sellers haven't been able to get CS to understand their situation. SD is a complete mess, but this part of the mess is 100% down to the post office.

I would agree that ebay CS are not always understanding the issue - the person I spoke to seemed to have no idea that is you deselected evri the royal mail costs went up even more. But it does sound like there are some issues with some Post Offices, if some say they understand and have had the communication and some just refuse the items. So many post offices now have sort of part time staff. When I am next at my village post office - in a shop now - I will ask the "expert", if he's there. He is the son of our old, proper post office...

I don’t understand why this is the PO fault. If you were a PO owner, would you want to take parcels, pay staff to take parcels, yet receive virtually no payment for taking them..and then  risk being fined for accepting them.

This has started at the top and should work with everyone concerned all along the line…

Since many post offices seem to have not much knowledge of it, I guess they were excluded from the deal that EBay and Rm created for themselves…

If the problem is with the post office, how do you explain that, as far as we know, the vast majority of sellers, including myself and a number of acquaintances, are having no problems sending their parcels at post offices?

It really doesn't matter if individuals within the post office don't like the deal, as a whole, they have been committed to it by their bosses.

They were not "excluded from the deal". These incompetent post office managers have simply not been keeping up to date with changes, as they should have been. They know information comes through Horizon almost daily, and monitoring that, and acting where necessary is part of managers' defined duties. Most of it is trivial, but they still need to be aware.

I think people, including me, get blinded by the brilliant marketing names Royal Mail and Post Office.

The reality is that Royal Mail is just another courier company, called International Distribution Services, owned by a Czech billionaire.

A few post offices are run by our government, as The Post Office, but most are merely franchise operations run by self employed shopkeepers.

I have personally had problems with the Hermes printers in Tescos convenience stores breaking down but I do not SHOUT that it is  Ebays fault,  I go elsewhere or use Royal Mail until Tescos sort it out, and Tescos lose out on the other shopping I would have done, which is what they were looking for, footfall.

If your local Post Office give you problems if you can politely vote with your feet and let them know why.

Looked at one dealer selling scopes, and thought to myself

Im surprised you are blaming the Post Office units scatter far and wide across the nation.

This scheme ebay created has been strewn with miss communications, stop-starts, untruths, rumours and contradictions.

One aspect you havent mentioned is the Multi items to an order - that has had a lot of millage in it, and so many directions.

Would you be surprised that the single part of the communication (ebay), lived up to their recent levels of communication - or hundreds of Post Offices, who have failed to understand the plot?

I know where my bet would be.

If I was one of the shopkeepers paying for the privilege of having a Post Office franchise then I would be going mad if customers were walking out of my shop because of a lack of communication, and straight on the phone to my area manager for them to urgently get the problem between Royal Mail and Post Office sorted.

"One aspect you havent mentioned is the Multi items to an order - that has had a lot of millage in it, and so many directions."

Sorry I have no idea what this, if I could understand it, has to do with this thread.

I suggest you read a few more community postings … I have come across 5
sellers who have had packages refused and that’s without me looking for
them.
