Posting this as more of a warning. I upgraded my private account this week to business. I then noticed that all my sales were being charged a final value fee of 10.6667% regardless of the Headphones and E-reader categories which should be charged at 6.9% per Ebay Fees. Spent hours on phone with support who were as confused as me. Escalated call to senior rep and received credits for 2 of the orders and a ticket was raised with the development team.
A day later (more sales still charged at 10.6667%), response from DEV team came through. The actual quote "According to development team, if the user is private seller at list time and Business seller at sale time, then the user gets charged as a private seller for the order and they get a higher rate."
In other words, re-list everything for correct rates to kick in. I did this and it solved the issue with sales after that. I then requested credits for the overcharged sales which was declined. So, if you are planning to upgrade or have upgraded to a business account, check that you are paying the correct rates.

This just happened to me. Changed to business seller yesterday. Today a pair of headphones sold for just over £23 and was charged a £3.39 transaction fee...
Also I didn't realise all my listings would automatically have their prices changed to the price discluding buyer protection fee.
Those headphones were listed as £23.99 yesterday, and we're bought today for £23.37 because eBay had automatically dropped the buyer protection fee off. Then charged me £3.39 transaction fee and £3.38 simple delivery fee..
I've revised my items to modify price and delivery. Will that not be enough to sort the high transaction fee? Do I need to actually end all listings and relist?

Thanks for the quick reply. At least it was only a cheap item. If someone had bought an expensive item at the reduced price and with 10.6% fee I'd have been furious.. Glad I saw your post. Thanks again.
I've ended all listings. Did you just relist from previously sold items? That should still work as a new listing right?

I don't understand how there can be 'private seller fees' charged on some listings when there are no private seller final value fees for those items at all.

Are you sure you were charged a simple delivery fee for a business sale, or was it just the postage charge (as you listed with free postage)?

Yeah it's even a simple delivery label that was generated. Says "paid and printed from eBay Simple Delivery". Seems like a weird bug when you go from private to business and have current items listed.

That is definitly weird!

It looks to me as though any listings that are live when an account is "upgraded" end up in some sort of limbo. The 10.6667% FVF is what the old private seller FVF was; i.e. 12.8% including VAT.
I'm guessing when a listing is created there is a flag of some sort that indicates whether it has been created by a private or a business seller to determine what fees apply when the listing sells. So, when a private account is "upgraded" to a business account the fees on existing listings are charged as if the seller was still a private seller including the BPF and the old private seller FVF of 12.8%.

Explanation makes sense but what a stupid 'system' given that in many cases it will mean sellers are overcharged!
