Over the last month I have sold things and immediately after I take the money out it asks me to reverify my email because it says “your payouts are on hold because the payment method you have on file could not be charged for any outstanding selling costs. Please add one to get paid”. I’m getting really tired of taking my bank off the account to reconnect and have to wait 2 extra days to get any money. Please fix this immediately. What a poor system for a service that’s been around as long as eBay.

Can you add another payment method such as a credit card?

As the other member advised, add a credit card etc.
Look on your Account details (payments) to see what needs adding.
You do not need to take off your Bank Account if this is verified.

Please note that adding your bank account to get paid, and set up a payment method for selling costs are 2 different things. If you add your bank to get paid, you still wouldn't have your selling costs method set up. Once you add this, that should resolve the issue for you.

Hi Marco,
Is this is a recent change? I ask because until recently I never had a credit/debit card on file; just a bank account and (previously) PayPal. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was first forced to add a card to fund a refund. I'm pretty certain that previously a variable Direct Debit mandate was used to source funds for eBay fees, buyer refunds, purchases etc.

Just to prove I'm not imagining this in my payments section it still states "Preferred for selling costs" in the bank account section:

I will add as well that it doesn’t even let me press on the button that says add payment method. Please fix this or look at my account because you can clearly see the 3 previous sales going to that bank account. It is broken on your end not mine

Do check your bank account and make sure you have Direct Debit set up to EBAY COMMERCE UK.
If you have never set up a DD to Ebay, that could be the issue.

I'm having the exact same issue. I go on live chat and they sent me to support, who then email me two weeks later telling me to go back to live chat.
Everything is setup correctly, this issue only appeared recently. No idea what is going on but i'm about to be done with ebay. They don't seem to be able to help. I have a bank card linked, I've got a bank account linked, everything is setup but the error remains.
