Ebay, you are going to have to change your policies, YES new policy for 2025. In a real auction, bids are binding which means you bid, you win, you pay. Non Payers lose their membership and eBay pays the seller.
At eBay, you bid, don't pay, don't worry about it. Ebay has no gravity, not a leg to stand on, no loss of your membership if you decide not to pay.
I am going to have to start selling on Vinted, Facebook, Gumtree, Pre-loved.

If you correctly cancel each unpaid item after 4 complete days and within 30 days of sale, non payers will be restricted from buying by eBay ... 2 unpaid strikes will prevent them from bidding on seller items again. Cancel now if still in time and block them from returning to your sales again >

I would rather and unpaid bid than someone made to pay and then puts in an IND claim because they did not want it.

Ebay has also recently added the ability for sellers to set their buyer requirements to require a buyer to enter a payment method before making a bid (pre-authorised payment), if so desired, in order to help reduce the number of non-payers. Payment is then taken automatically on completion of the auction.

Amongst other things, all buyers have the option to request a cancellation of a sale if they no longer have any intention of committing to the purchase of the item. It wouldn't take them more than a couple of minutes to message the seller and say something along the lines of "I've changed my mind - could you please cancel the sale, as I no longer want the item?" Therefore buyers really have no excuse for deliberately failing to pay just to get out of buying an item, or for paying and then claiming Item Not As Described in order to get a refund. By making use of the request to cancel timewasters wouldn't need to either refuse to pay up, or pay and allege at a later date that the item isn't as described so as to secure a refund. eBay should stop being so bloody soft and crack down harder on buyers who have a track record of wasting sellers' time using either of these practices by closing their accounts down and enforcing an indefinite ban on them ever re-registering a new account.

Why not set your listings to Immediate Payment Required?
Then the item does not sell until the buyer pays
It's simple if you use the tools that eBay provide
Nobody can buy your item without paying if you use the setting correctly.

I don't know of any b & m auction houses that sell over a million items an hour, their is no comparison.
Ebay now offer sellers the "option" to require immediate payment if a buyer makes an offer, there has been "talk" that they will soon be offering sellers the same option for auctions.
I guess Ebay ,like other sites,is not perfect,i doubt if any ever will be.

The option is already in place, it was introduced around July of this year, hence my earlier post.
You may be asked to provide a payment method and postage address when making a bid. In this case, if you win the auction, payment will be taken automatically. This is to ensure smoother transactions for buyers and sellers.

What should be in place is immediate payment at the end of every auction. Bidders who have won won't have a choice to cancel afterwards and they will have automatically paid because bids should be binding and automatically paid like that of submitting offers.
If this is not the case, eBay should be implementing this rule straight away. It will sort out the good from the bad overnight.
Did you read the thread?
YOU already have this option
Just switch it on for all your listings from now on
YOU have to take the action though
Just tick the "immediate payment only" option when listing items for sale!

?? Please read the thread
The item does not end as sold until the buyer pays
There is no option to ignore
Payment is taken automatically by eBay as soon as the buyer clicks Buy It Now if you select Immediate Payment Only
This option ALREADY exists. You just need to tick the option when you list your items!

AMD once again i say i would rather have someone cancel a bid than have to pay for the item and then fake a reason for returning which will then cost me the return postage!

LOL maybe if you say a third time the clear financial benefits of what you're suggesting will sink in 😂

i had one unfortunatly i cannot name and shame so i reported and blocked him

Hi N.P, do you think you have actually blocked anyone? Nah, eBay don't do such things because they just want to keep you sweet.

I really find it annoying that I can't leave negative feedback. Ebay seem to be avoiding anything that will look bad.
