AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

£1.88 is indeed the buyer fee on £30. Apologies if this is not the answer, but in eBay's price font, 1 is slightly 7-like. Try putting the price up to £30.12. It should come out as £32.00 total.

£2.70 is a simple delivery price for large letter, are you sure you are on custom delivery?
27-07-2025 8:21 AM
Yep, definitely selected custom delivery. I didn't even expect it to be an option this long after simple delivery was meant to be implemented.
I withdrew the listing after it wouldn't display the correct amount while I try and work out why it's not listing correctly.

Thats from the draft relisting.
27-07-2025 4:44 PM
Its also the highest 'normal' postage for large letter though, and I've managed to get custom delivery to accept both it and 2.40 on a few low value items.
27-07-2025 4:51 PM
But there’s no lockers for me as also have a private account as none near me

Also could give d e p o p a try

I've already drastically reduced my purchases on ebay
Since ebay brought in this new scheme Click & Collect has become hopeless. I choose C&C because ebay's default delivery is via courier.
Couriers are no good for me as I'm working away during the week when couriers try to deliver.
Since the new Simple Delivery (?????) Ebay no longer issues an eCP code to private sellers. I've had several packages returned/not delivered .
I used to make at least a dozen purchases each month I've made only 2 in the past two months.

"I used to make at least a dozen purchases each month I've made only 2 in the past two months"
I used to make several purchases a month but I haven't bought anything since March, when they announced Simple Delivery would be made mandatory in April. Not 10 minutes ago I bought something from Etsy that I would normally have bought from ebay, similarly a few other items in the last week, mostly from the direct web sites belonging to ebay sellers. Ebay has shot themselves in the foot with SD as far as I'm concerned.

I've just had this email from ebay:
We want you to have a seamless experience with us, so we’re changing how we communicate with you. |
What’s new? |
We’re removing the Selling Promotions option from our Communications Preferences centre. This will streamline the information and updates you receive from us. |
What this means for you |
To receive emails on deals, special events, selling tips and more, opt in to our general marketing communications. |
It's not clear from the email whether they've stopped doing Selling Promotions altogether, or put them as a separate item. I've just checked my Communication Preferences and it seems they've stopped doing them altogether. Shucks, they could have made "Sell without Simple Delivery this weekend!" as a Selling Promotion 😄

Give it time.......

So far lost at least five sales that I’ve had to cancel because I won’t post items and have set it to collections in person only. But I’m not giving up nor backing down. Stand for what you think is right was how I was brought up. So that’s what I’m doing. I’m protesting against simple delivery being mandatory, by not using it and refusing to post anything until eBay gets their shut together. Yes that’s an deliberate typo but you know the word I want to say but can’t.
And revert back to how it was which worked fine.
I have left all the information on my protest in my about page and in the description.
I won’t be bullied nor pressured into changing what isn’t broken. I had a good system in place that suited me and my Autism and ADHD perfectly and see no reason to uproot everything I’ve worked hard to achieve.
As I said already. I was taught by my parents to stand for what I think is right and to not be a sheep and follow the crowd because that’s how it is. No. I won’t do that I’m afraid. So it’s tough loosing sales but that to me is progress because I won’t cave in to what is easy.

Good on you, prelovedtreasures … like several of us you have you principals which you continue to keep in tact. There is a big wide world out side of eBay.
Lots of luck going forward.

Agree...make Simple Delivery optional.
29-07-2025 7:06 PM
I tried to delete all of my ads but the system would not let me do it eBay has made a total mess of all my ads
applying simple delivery with the wrong postage cost for the weight of the shipment and also changing my dispatch times without any notice Therefore I have made the changes like you to "Collection in person only this has removed the simple delivery and the wrong postage and also the dispatch time So now when a customer makes a purchase I can arrange with the customer when they may pick up their item While I may have a lot of disappointed customers who will not be able to get my items delivered this will also result in a loss of sales for eBay and I am not going to lose any sleep over that Thank you for your input it is really much appreciated
29-07-2025 7:31 PM
Why won't eBay let you end your listing's, there is a facility specifically for this. What would happen if one of listing's broke, you would need to end it. See screenshot.

Thanks for your message that may be the widow that came up on my screen I tried it several times it even asked me if I was sure but nothing changed when I checked my ads afterwards Anyway preloved treasures-3 gave me a great idea and that was to offer collection in person only that got rid of the simple delivery with the wrong postage costs that eBay had applied to my ads and it also got rid of my dispatch times that eBay had changed
eBay has shot its self in the foot yet again as I was on the Global shipping program and my items were being shipped all over the world obviously that will not happen now So eBay continues to lose potential buyers from its selling platform. Simple delivery should be optional and not forced on sellers its just another money grab
15 years I had a direct Royal mail account without any problems in short Simple delivery is a abomination

Well said 👏🏻
I reckon i've got a week left on here - until the next part of this bonkers Simple Delivery policy kicks in on August the 6th (whatever nonsense that entails) - then i'm pausing sales indefinitely - until they make SD optional.
I'm already nearly at my (£1750) yearly limit since hmrc started poking their noses in (God forbid people actually try and make some spending money on the side to help get the economy rolling - don't get me started on Rachel from accounts - durrrrrrrr! 🤡)...so i'm not losing out, ebay will though...if I don't make anything on here,I don't spend on here - simples 🤷🏼♂️⬅️btw, what's that doing there?
It's no wonder the UK's economy is in the gutter - our country is currently being run by people who couldn't be trusted to run a tap.
30-07-2025 10:25 AM
Could not agree more. I have begun pausing my account to avoid that limit. Much of what I sell would literally be on a rubbish heap. But instead of encouraging economic activity and a reduction in waste, the government is happy to throttle sensible activity in desperation for every penny of tax.
I've become completely disconnected with what eBay is doing with SD. When I think it is normalising, a new change appears.

If you're a personal seller, selling only personal items, from a clear out, unwanted, or general disposal, then that £1750 is not a limit. This is from the gov.uk website:
You’re clearing out your attic and decide to sell your unwanted items using online marketplaces. None of the items you sell are worth more than £6,000.
It’s unlikely that you’ll need to tell us about this income or pay any tax, no matter how many items you sell.
