NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

as always the problem is that the adults are always happy to sit there and rake in the money whilst the children tinker and then when it goes wrong start crying and saying 'whats happened, whose fault is it'

Can't say too much here but I found some of your items pretty easily and see that you've already got the hang of using auctions to get visibility on P.1 of the search results.  As you increase your listing numbers you might like to think about extending their duration and working out a schedule for batches of auto-relists?  It saves time.

I see what you mean about the competition !!  They're doing what I suggest above, by doing it they are dominating chunks of the results pages and making it harder for buyers to see sellers with fewer ads.

You might also like to think about opening a shop so that a buyer who finds one of items can search it for others.  Rather than going by "See All" of your items, but them still being scattered through various categories.

Good luck!

thank you i will make a note of your advice, still another 50 items to go so will be useful!   Like with my introduction to e bay but i find it difficult to understand all the finer details so just stuff things on and over time will investigate further options.  Although i do think it is simpler than e bay in a lot of ways.  Once my 4 items on here run out of time i will then be gone completely.  Will miss the old girl but everything ends sometime.

No problem.

After ten years+ I'm still finding new things.

If you run into problems try asking on their boards.  They're not so active but friendlier and often you can get questions answered.

At present there'll be no inclination to have recriminations, everything is going swimmingly as far as the top dogs are concerned.  Have a look at ebay's share price.  Only a few cents away from reaching a record high.

We're shouting amongst ourselves in this echo chamber, but until there's significant publicity that the investors see, and falling revenues, there's no reason for the mafia boss to worry.

Everything maybe going swimmingly on ebay.com but with ebay.uk it seems to be a different story.

The US has not had the changes that we in the UK have had and we are ebay's second largest market.

The share price is going well, but revenue fell in 2022 and since then has been increasing gently but below inflation.  So I'm quite surprised at the investors' enthusiasm.  It's not a share that would be on my radar.

As you say, ebay uk is the second largest market.  So a serious dip here would ripple through.  Serious?  It may be questionable whether a bunch of personal sellers jumping ship will have much effect, compared with all the Chinese tat that's sold here.  I think bad publicity could have an effect on investors sooner than any changes in revenue.  It would need to be very bad and very visible in America.  Right now, with a president who publicly drops an F-bomb, visibility of ebay is likely not high.

I thought I would try a test run, put a bundle of books on (BIN David Baldacci), as collection only + SD ( no choice). It says buyer pays £3.38, 2kg, which would be right. Listed it and postage is now saying £2.82? How does that work, where did that come from? On my home page under postage it says "flat rate", never seen that before.

Thanks, yes it has done.  I have no printer, no smartphone, so am going to see if I can screenshot qr code and take that to post office, is that a possibility? All assuming it was to sell of course!

3.7 million listings on eBid as of today …. 22% increase against 7 days ago.

eBay will be taking notice.
What they will do remains to be seen but don’t hold your breath.

Yes both EVRI SD and RM SD have “by-pass” codes (just under the QR code) to take to print shop or post office instead of scanning QR code

Yes you can screenshot it and take a tablet with you to post office or  take a photo with a camera or non smart phone maybe

i believe there’s also some 6 digit code you just give them that the post office can use to print a label  (someone posted about this in another thread)

there’s also book collection by royal mail  through the eBay postage page and they bring the label too now

This is a crazy system. We want to sell things for £1.35, but then 'seller protection' takes it to £2.12 and now Simple delivery adds another £2.72 = £4.94!!!!

We need a different platform to sell from!

It now costs £2.70 to send a 90g large letter which used to cost £1.55 - this is beyond a joke.

It seems to me that the only way to get rid of this lunacy is for all private sellers to stop selling immediately. This will instantly cause loss of income from the, also ludicrous, buyer protection fees and the inflated postage/delivery costs income currently making eBay more wealthy because of our custom.

Perhaps, when the loss of income hits the eBay wallet, they will realise exactly what they have to lose by forcing these changes onto their private sellers.

Surely common sense should apply here and someone at eBay must see how financially damaging and stupid this is.

I have used eBay for 25 years - I haven't made any sales at all for 2 weeks now and I will not be posting any more items for sale from now on.

One thing I learned from working in business for 50 years is that you don't  bite the hand that feeds you. We, the private sellers, made eBay what it is today - they seem to have forgotten that.
