AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

The purpose it serves is that there are people that it helps and has helped.
One size does not fit all so it may not be for everyone.
If it was no use anymore users would still not be joining it and posting.
Because the issues and problems for users keep changing because continuous changes are still being made the experiences that users have is still important to a lot of genuine PRIVATE sellers.

Posts like yours highlight why this thread is useful.
It's based on your experience which just shows what a mess things are.
I don't have a printer and the RM bring a label collection worked perfectly and isn't subject to change after change.
Yet again this highlights a flaw with SD for private sellers.

I've read all the messages in this thread and there still isn't a satisfactory answer for posting Large Letter items as sadly ebay wants to treat them all as parcels which is so wasteful of other people's money.

Deliver to collection points - It's again a copy from Vinted. Currently doing postage offers if you order to a collection point.
Its the customers choice at the end of the day. I was perfectly happy to choose it on an order as the collection point is at the supermarket.
I assume it is being funded by the couriers to encourage uptake of use of the units because it then saves them money.

After all we have said eBay's Simple delivery is still broken and has not been fixed its been weeks and we are the ones being hit with the stress ,

It's odd that this was not part of the original launch, sellers would have been a lot more likely to accept the system if it meant they could offer £2.29 delivery to collection points like on Vinted. Their click and collect system has always worked well for me but would advise caution using Evri's new lockers, had several parcels turned away from the lockers after 3 attempts and then completely disappeared.

Yup if ebay are taking over responsibility for delivery they really shouldn't be putting the seller's address on the label for returns if the delivery fails. Especially as it was ebay that collected, and had the opportunity to validate, the buyer's address in the first place.
The seller's address should only be given on a new return label if the buyer raises a valid return case.
Ebay should have arrangements with some central facility somewhere to process failed deliveries.
By cutting the seller out of delivery responsibilities they should no longer be involved in failed deliveries.
Ebay want to make their profit on delivery without taking over the responsibilities. It's not right.

At best SD been partially patched up but it's still very much 'persona non grata'
Ebay have stopped giving us proper updates on when the next concessions and fixes will happen.
If they think SD in it's current form is acceptable then the platform is going to keep sinking.

I've used the £2.29 lockers several times on that platform there to buy and sell no problems however as a buyer it's a false economy as it costs me a bit in petrol to go out of my way to a locker (and you only have 3 days to collect) so I usually end up paying a bit more for delivery to home but at least I don't feel that place is screwing me with overpriced postage and just knowing they have a £2.29 option (even if I don't always use it) takes the sting out of them also not having a large letter rate.

Will anyone put their hands up and truly admit that they would start at the beginning and read 323 pages and over 6450 posts?
Nobody is expected to start at the beginning. It's called a discussion, you don't have to replay tapes from the beginning of any discussion to be part of it and voice views. Those that have read from the earliest postings don't have to read them again, and those that joined part way through can debate as they wish, and others will respond. The volume of posts though shows how important the discussion is.

I wasn't convinced with 'Simple' but waited to see how it worked in practice before forming an opinion and my opinion is that it is not 'simple' for me and certain aspects of it make me uncomfortable and decidedly uneasy in using it. I know this is supposed to be a 'help each other' forum for users overall, and some have issues with this thread as it doesn't provide specific, easily searched help with Simple Delivery, but as grapecr-30 says a few replies down, finding it did show me that it wasn't just me, that there were more of us in the same boat, and this in itself was a help provided by the thread.

Only the case if you have to go out of your way of course. And then it all comes down to where the lockers are.
One I use is at the supermarket on the way to the kids school, so I'll be going that way irregardless.
Others are on the side of a pub in the opposite direction and I wouldn't otherwise be going to that pub - so makes less sense.
But that's the point of the promotion - the couriers are attempting to build up their network of lockers at the expense of others I suppose.

Yeah there are only going to be more lockers and I heard RM are targeting 12,000 lockers eventually. As that industry matures I wouldn't be surprised to see carriers starting to share lockers for efficiency and greater reach a bit like the mobile phone networks have been sharing transmitter stations. Post Offices might be ahead of the market in how many of them can now be used used for multiple carriers. I guess the final stage is the consolidation we have seen with the mobile networks and more recently Evri/DPD tie up and there might only be around 3 carriers left at the end which is probably the minimum the CMA would allow them to fold themselves into.

I was also thinking of the safety aspect of it. For example, if you had a disgruntled buyer who wasn't happy even after giving them as much help and resolution as possible, they have your full private home address. I'm not suggesting every disgruntled buyer is going to land up on your doorstep (I've never had a disgruntled buyer btw) but there is now the possibility of it happening.

Yet another horrible thought for the future and could lead to even less choice for sellers on all platforms.
When will platforms start getting a proper grip on reality.
09-06-2025 12:24 PM
With no real communication or understanding from anywhere else at least it's current sellers and ex sellers that are doing a better job than anywhere else.
09-06-2025 12:32 PM
I'm glad you feel that the thread is important.
It still highlights that there are still a lot of problems and issues nearly 2 months after what was meant to be the official rollout.
Plus there are a lot of users that leave kudos for posts they find helpful or interesting without actually feeling the need to make a post.

All a lot of private sellers would appreciate is more choice and not having to pay inflated costs compared to dealing with their choice of courier directly.
It is interesting to see how a once untouchable platform is now losing private sellers to competitors who must be more than happy.

Oh come come, are you really trying to have us believe that you of all people haven’t got the nous to start a new thread if you want to discuss a specific issue? Or do you mean other people? Is it that you think other people haven’t got sufficient nous to consider starting a new thread if they particularly want to discuss a specific issue 🙄? Funnily enough, people do it all the time, as is evidenced by the multitude of threads with “Simple Delivery” in the title. Heck, I've even done it myself instead of asking on this thread, because I recognise that this thread is for DISCUSSION.
Even you can't keep away from it, in spite of the fact that you want to close it down 🤣
