AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Ebay have become a scam when selling an item. SD applied to collection only items, SD not refunding, SD having to give incorrect weight on labels, SD not allowing seller to change the courier when they are on Strike or do no deliver to that post code, SD has no clue if RM or EVRI will accept the goods or not due to size etc. SD is Lock on the seller and Non refundable even if the seller has posted the item using another method. One word Scam , Scam and Scam. Total fraud! SD is a fee Seller needs to post the item. Why would ebay REFUND the buyer postage cost when seller has posted the item. Scam Alert!!!!!

Maybe but if so wouldn't the ebay reps be under instructions not to say anything about SD in the weekly chats? I've seen a few times them saying that SD will still be rolled out, is fit for purpose, etc. Surely such statements would be under legal privilege? People seem to be suggesting that their listings are still getting updated ('violated') and a few people have said they have lost the ability to change them back with advanced postage options.

Response from ebay regarding a buyer being charged 4 sets of postage for 4 items that can easily be sent in the same package at no extra cost for 1 postage price, because they weren't in the "Basket".
Items were sold by myself after the buyer used "Make an Offer" and I accepted withing a few seconds of each other, thus creating 4 separate orders.
Maybe "Make an Offer" items should be placed in the "Basket".
Absolute shambles.
"I'm sorry if you were provided with misinformation from previous agents on this issue.
Ebay Simple Delivery currently does not support combined postage after individual orders have been created. If a buyer purchases multiple items in a single transaction, eBay creates a multi-quantity order automatically, which combines the shipping.
However, once orders are placed individually, it is not possible to combine them for shipping with Simple Delivery because it requires new logic to assign the shipping service. This feature might become available in the future, but not in this current state.
I understand that you have been given much of this information previously, and so this response may not satisfy the resolution that you were hoping for."

'Why would ebay REFUND the buyer postage cost when seller has posted the item. Scam Alert!!!!!'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Within the S.D. system: When the *buyer* pays the postage cost (which is the more usual way), if that postage label does not get used for whatever reason , the refund eventually goes back to the buyer because they are the ones who bought it! not the seller....
In the S.D. system: if the seller is offering 'seller pays postage' -like the old fashioned 'free' postage- and that label doen't get used for whatever reason, the refund for that postage label will eventually go back to the seller- because this time *they* are the ones who bought it!
These 'label refunds' take about 30 days (?) to appear in the purchaser's account
Postage labels might not get used by the seller if, for instance, they decide to post by a different method than that precribed by the S.D. label. So in that instance, if the seller is doing 'seller pays', they'll get the S.D. label refunded.
If the sale is 'buyer pays' and the S.D. label doesn't get used- yeah , the seller doesn't get the postage back. If they don't want to use S.D , they have to factor in the postage to the item price ; just like the old days of free postage...
'SD having to give incorrect weight on labels,..'
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the S.D. system has given you the wrong weighted label, you should just take it to the post office/drop-off shop anyway. The label has the magic words 'Marketplace seller' printed on it, and this means the staff have to accept the parcel, and post it.
Ebay and Evri/RM will settle up any over or under-paid postage between themselves, later on.
'One word Scam , Scam and Scam. Total fraud!'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't like S.D. either. I think it's a horrid system and I don't want to use it. But it's not actually a 'Scam' or a 'total fraud' ....... it's more just a p.i.t.a.

Lucy, For everything you said which I kinda agree but all this is learnt the hard way. 30days for a refund is scam to me. Who remembers what was posted 30days ago. If you have 10 refunds no one would remember.

For Large Letters I used RMTracked48 prior to SD. I have send one LL via SD and that used RMTracked48, so there was no difference to the speed of service. If Express was chosen by the buyer, then it would have been RMTracked24, I would imagine.

I have never used SD but after creating half a dozen dummy listings not one gave me a option as good as dealing with RM directly. I am not a reseller or a business seller and never will be. Evri will never be a option of choice for me because I have had to many bad experiences regarding items delivered. I know it's down to personal experiences but in my case evri just aren't a option.

Maybe the reason why there aren't more posts by people who experienced difficulties is because they have gone elswhere and don't feel that posting in the forums will make any difference.
Things here have been in decline for the last few years which is fact. What most private sellers find it hard to stomach is being told that these recent changes will benefit everyone. That statement is definitely NOT a fact. Most people that have posted here and in these forums only want the truth and do not want to be told things that just aren't true.

I fully agree with your second paragraph.
Your first paragraph, however, is contestable, obviously, as it is just informed conjecture on your part.
I am NOT a fan of SD being mandatory for all private sellers, even with the size exemptions. However, I can see how it may work for many, and that it isn't 100% useless.
This thread has been going so long that it goes through good patches and bad patches. The last couple of pages were part of a bad patch. There are a small clique of posters, who spend their time concocting ludicrous scenarios to attack eBay with, not realising that eBay will be fully aware of all these scenarios. You even had one guy suggesting that the weight issue might result in cargo planes being overloaded! And I'm the one who gets slated for a lack of common sense.
You have people STILL claiming that PO/Evri won't accept parcels, when that is clearly in the past, and claiming eBay is not refunding unused labels, when there have been precisely ZERO reports of that actually happening.
SD is here, and is here to stay. Let's concentrate on dealing with that (and yes, I do have a private account too), and stop literally making things up.

eBay does use Royal Mail tracked 48 for their standard postage but you have to make sure the Evri option is switched off. I think you'll probably find it ok after a few listings.

I noticed in the Featured Posts column that ebay have made an announcement today, which included info about Simple Delivery.
@ebay - it would be helpful if you could put a date for each post in the column so that we know whether the Featured Post is new.
Anyway the new post is here:

Sounds ok when reading it but will it be ok when in operation ?.
I would still rather deal with RM direct. I do not have any faith in dealing with ebay.
I know they want to make as much money as they can, examples being Holding a sellers money, Buyer Protection Farce, but SD is just one control factor to many for me. It really is time they realised users are humans and are not just things that can be Programmed.

eBay new post so the last three weeks never happened ? are RM charging 30p per collection with ebay ? most of my post has be done the normal way with only two SD and all now dropped of a post office when passing ,And SD is still hit and miss when listing !! + letters options not there!
06-05-2025 5:48 PM
My point is if RM are my choice for posting items I prefer dealing with RM if there are any problems regarding items i send.
I just don't have any trust or faith in having to deal with ebay if there are any postal problems.
06-05-2025 5:59 PM
Maybe they have just realised they only have until the end of June before the end of the second quarter and needed to make a positive sounding announcement to try and stop this second quarter being a monumental disaster.
06-05-2025 6:23 PM
What strikes me about the post is the complete glossing over of the last few weeks. Also the delays to the roll out have apparently been down to users asking for more 'features' which should've been basic requirements and been incorporated from the start.

Some of your own statements are only guesses. And don't play a victim now. If people responded angrily to your comments it is because you took the first step to offend or ridicule people posting here.
You might have a private seller account but through your arrogance or ignorance are not able to realise how the current ebay changes are affecting people.
And if you want a fact, then here it is, and if you so wish you can add an "anti-ebay-stirring-sentiment" to it, but the fact will still remain the fact: with recent changes ebay made it very difficult for private sellers to sell here. It almost looks like Ebay are trying to eliminate private sellers as such and only allow them to continue operate here as ebay's "unpaid workers" - because we are heading to having zero control of how we post, together with the fact that we do not get paid when the buyer "pays" us. The buyer indeed pays, but we don't get the money till whenever it is convenient for ebay to part with it.
And how do you know SD "is here to stay"? That's just your guess. Some of your comments are so out of sync you almost sound like an ebay representative.

You are so right. This latest announcement is just a twist on what should have been a fundamental part of the changes made. All it has done is highlighted some of what was wrong with the original changes. Plus it was nice to read that it's taken since March 31st until now to be told that they are listening

I totally agree with what you said about private sellers.
We might not be wanted now but there is a huge difference between being wanted and being needed.
Private sellers are also people who buy. A lot of those always had Ebay as the first place they would look at.
Plus it was only clever wording in this latest announcement to make it look as though private sellers are being done a favour.
