AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Hello rugby, the only people who can remove 'mistaken solutions' are the mentors (the 'pinks').
The rest of us hoi-polloi can't touch 'em!
(but it is quite easy to hit 'solution' by accident : I've done it once myself on a particularly confused day!🙃)
(@papso22 or @*vyolla* or @tressygirl ...... pretty please?)

As i created this thread i could mark a post as a solution, but Moderators have the power to edit threads and remove posts, so someone, somewhere decided to mark a post as a solution which is totally false and wrong.
I have messaged the moderators to ask that as it's a false statement it should be removed.

Thank you.
It does need to be removed as marking a post as a solution that clearly is not a solution is not exactly a good thing to do by anyone.
Especially on a discussion thread.

I've messaged the mentors asking for the solution notification to be removed as it is not true.

In all the time I sent items by 48hr tracked using RM directly, i only had to make 2 claims and luckily both times I received a cheque.
Which was very useful.

I am 60 and seeing eBay falter and fail over 25 years of selling is quite sad. I used to sell dozens of items a day in the early days but new rules, and changes to the site, including ever increasing fees, has caused me to close my eBay business.
I'm on the last legs of selling on eBay. Last year sales were so bad I was selling 60 items in 90 days. This year it's 20 items in 90 days.
I ended 20 listings this week and binned the stock or donated the charity.
Goodbye eBay.

I'm another long term seller (22 years at last count) who will now be leaving, the items I sell don't lend themselves to "one-size-fits-all" postage solutions so eBay is no longer a viable sales outlet for me.

I remember the 10-day auctions with a promo, spending most of the day listing right up to 100 items and flogging them off for well over £1000 on a single Sunday evening. Often it was half a dozen items or more to the same buyer. You'd still have to wait the rest of the week for the Paypal payments to come in.
I'm lucky I shifted my 'junk' when I did, never mind that an awful lot of it was bought on Ebay too.
Even attempting to try that now seems completely unthinkable. 😲

I started with a box of books I no longer wanted and £20 to cover postage about 22 years ago. I doubt I'd do
it now.

"I'm lucky I shifted my 'junk' when I did,...
Totally agree. I started 12 years ago on ebay by selling off a large box of old Bakelite plugs, light fittings, finger plates, door handles and the like, that I had intended to use in my house but realised it wasn't such a good idea.
Ten years later, or there about, until ebay removed it when I was moved over to the Selling Hub there was a box on my All Selling Page that showed the total items sold and their value.
Even ten years later it showed that I made almost half my sales (by number, not value) were made in the first 2 years. After that sales numbers just slowly declined year after year.

I too am closing my account:
1. I'm a disabled person with myriad health problems.
2. I sell off my duplicate minatures so I don't buy to sell on, which is the definition of a business seller.
3. Simple delivery has caused me endless problems as I used to offer combined shipping which seems to have disappeared, since February this year.
4. Despite repeated attempts by me to get a clear answer from eBay customer support I've been given a lot of erroneous information by numerous agents.
5. Simple delivery overwriting my listings is singularly unhelpful as it has rendered my item descriptions invalid. When I tried agent suggested workarounds some listings updated others did not.
6. Simple delivery has a maximum turn around time of 3 days which I simply cannot achieve due to the reasons stated above. This may constitute disability discrimination which I will look into.
7. In order to try and negotiate this mess I decided to see what it would look like as a business seller and opted for that. It was by no means helpful and apparently I can now no longer revert to being a private seller because eBay says so.
Bye bye eBay, eBay bye bye.

I have every faith in ebay. They've got our backs!
Like the time I got neg'd for an item that didn't turn up even though the buyer didn't message me to the fact nor did he ask to be refunded nor did he open a case and the biggie would be that there was a picture of the delivery as proof of delivery and everything matched what I saw when I did a little google mapping thingy.
Did they remove the negative feedback. No. As they stated they didn't want to cancel out the buyer but cancelling out me was ok!
Yep! they've got our backs!

That's interesting as I have got negative feedback removed in the past , perhaps 4 year now .
I also had one previous to that , as because I didn't notice it , as they were no comms from the buyer and it was up to long , I could not remove it .
If Ebay really wanted to take some of the stress out of selling then better protection for private sellers over negative feedback would not go amiss . I would not be difficult for the seller to be notified when this happens , and that is something that is genuinely simple to do

This may be of interest to some on this thread , I was talking to a friend who is a bit of an Ebay novice and he just made his 1st sale . The item were a set of chisels and as they are "bladed" items they could not be sent using Evri or RM. However instead of getting him sort out his own courier etc they gave him a UPS label . Is this a little know feature of SD , that Ebay will sort out a courier regardless
He did not have to pay for it then but I told him to see if Ebay deduct that amount from his sales fee. It may be his buyer was charged . I will find out in a few days

the few items I've sold this month that were already listed were able to be posted with the original custom postage but I've now had my first switch to Simple Delivery on a previously listed item. I think I've got this one sorted so I can post as normal but as I have no intention of using SD I think this is the beginning of the end for me selling on ebay unless they do an about face quickly. Of course this means I'll be buying lots less as well but that's their lookout, they evidently don't care. Madness.

Can I ask, is this the biggest post ever? I have not looked through, but has there been any comment from the Mods?
