AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I like yourself can't believe how so many years of loving this site can change to loathing it within just over 2 months. Shareholders will start losing faith in the management as much as private sellers and buyers have. I'm just so glad to think a thread like this at the right time could contribute to helping some private sellers/buyers.

"Well with at least 2 other options coming into play at least there's a decent light at the end of the tunnel."
And don't forget Delcampe for collectables. I bought off there years ago and I'm inclined to go back there to sell.

I'm not worried about the ban i know it's over so will say what i want now, no longer want to be part of such a corrupt organisation what i have found out is shocking and this behaviour doesn't surprise me at all. As for the staff if they don't agree with all this they should walk too because they will be replaced with bots soon anyway

I never knew about them. But I definitely intend to find out if either think signed cd's come under collectibles.

Another place with complicated wallets and payments i'm happy to stick with pay...pal no photo id so my options are very limited

I'm really not surprised by what you've said. Hopefully in the future this UK part will be open to a buyer from the UK. That's what we need.

Its the mango pay i can't withdraw only spend there as no photo id. People seem to want that not pay-pal

Thank you for the insight, it's worth getting a long-term perspective especially as lots of people are frantically looking for something. I did a quick search on YT about videos relating to that marketplace and there weren't many, especially recent ones and not many user reviews which was somewhat disappointing. Things may change though if this turns out to be a tipping point.

Well at least 2 other places are making their move according to some of the recent posts today.

Yeah I'd imagine the biggest business sellers will have entered into contracts with their carriers where they have had to commit minimum item volumes (covering their sales on ebay, direct and other platforms) in order to secure extremely low shipping rates. It's going to be tricky for ebay to unpick that and add their extra quid on. Maybe ebay will just pick on the little business guys for now.
I very much doubt that the biggest businesses on eBay have "Business Accounts" as we understand them. I would think it extremely likely that there is an unadvertised invitation only "Enterprise Seller" option for the really big boys where they get to directly negotiate there own specific fees and service level agreements. They might even have staff seconded to eBay's offices.
For the really big players who eBay rather depend on SD is never going to be an issue as they will have the power to say "No thank you".

So true. The issue now would be to try gaining enough potential buyers who like private sellers are looking elsewhere or are now buying direct from where they can.

I echo those sentiments. What makes it worse is that I already went through this love to hate relationship with Discogs a few years back.
I saw a post maybe in this thread or maybe another thread where they mentioned that perhaps Obey are counting on the new sign-ups that have no idea how things were (and maybe at Discogs too....never realising how good it was).

Very true. I think it was a earlier post on here. The only problem for here now is if anyone looks at even the reputation over the last few months regarding such negativity it's bound to put them off.

In fact the best thing that could happen here to the UK part would be -:
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT.

The best news I've heard today is the other player are making their move by introducing Collectibles as a section which is bound to be good news for a lot of private sellers.

People are talking about vented ( Name changed to protect the innocent) but looking at the set up they already charge a buyers protection fee and their own version of STD, so I can see it being jumping from one fire into another in less I am missing something.
03-04-2025 7:46 PM
yes that is right they do SD too so no better off
03-04-2025 7:48 PM
That would be positive, providing the new lot have their head screwed on right.
03-04-2025 7:51 PM
That's a positive move. I have no experience of selling on other sites apart from Discogs. One thing I was wondering was whether anyone had any experience selling with the big one, the rainforest in South America? Or is that a completely different kettle of fish and therefore there is no mention of it.....?

Having no experience of it but just from an outsider's perspective it would seem to be similar but maybe I'm missing something? Is it that it also allows for smaller RM packages perhaps? Is that the main difference?
