NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Thank you.

It is a tiny minority that have mentioned it should be closed.

In fact there have been 5 or less.

The worst thing is that i don't think hardly any of them are just private sellers.

But such is life.

Thanks for that post and very well put.

I still live in hope that there will be yet more changes to come that hopefully, will make selling on here viable again for many others and me.

I was about to return to selling when Ebay made the the SD announcement , and I have not sold since.

Very little has changed since then which is why  I think this post is as  valid as when you started it .  I am not looking it as often as I was but its quite clear the strength of sentiment still remains despite some of the posts from those who don't seem to have the same connection to the core issue that you have raised  🙂

I totally agree.

I regularly create a dummy listing to try and see if re-listing on here would be viable for me.

Since early April when I decided to stop selling its become less viable than early April.

So many problems with the broken SD and its now over 3 months and different people are still having different issues.

I don't mind paying reasonable fees if they are transparent but SD just will not work for me. Making it optional would be a great decision.

At present like I've previously said, private sellers and buyers should not be expected to pay premium charges or fees for second rate services.

Hah... "I really think this thread should be closed now"...i.e. because I don't like  everybody disagreeing with me.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I have noticed several people that have contacted me that were banging on a drum that I should be listed as a business seller rather than a private seller because I make items to sell on eBay in reality since covid  my total sales in a month  fluctuates some months 1 sale and 10 sales on the topside not something  I would consider  to be substantial in numbers at a business point of view This thread should not be closed it helps all private sellers and is a great contribution to all

I noticed the drum bangers and there's always a tiny minority that feel the need to send you a post, and to then say the thread should be closed was a joke.

That mentality isn't what people want to see.

I started this thread primarily for it to be a discussion thread for private sellers to share their experiences and possibly help each other due to very poor communication from the platform.

I stopped selling because I think I had 2 sales in nearly 3 months.

SD was the final straw for me and until sense is seen by the platform I won't sell here again.

This thread is no different from any other thread where people are posting their problem with sd and getting help with it so not sure why it’s being singled out by some

anyway no one has to read it or post on it it’s a free world still

as for wrong info and snides and all that jazz happens on many other threads too

the point about it ALL is that eBay are ignoring all the problems and letting its customers deal with their incompetence

why does a multi billion company have incompetence about basic little things curious but not really bothered as they aren’t

obviously

whatever eBay

I couldn't believe i read that.

Literally every day someone new joins the thread and that alone should prove that it should be allowed to carry on.

I absolutely agree.

It's only a tiny minority that are so negative, and what they don't realise is that new people are still joining regularly.

You are right when you said they don't have to post on it.

While there are still so many issues being caused by SD this thread is and will continue to be useful.

Plus a lot of people have gained information and helped others here because of the lack of platform communication.

Unfortunately ebay has pitched business sellers against private sellers by making it free for private sellers to sell, whilst business sellers have to pay fees.  Hence business sellers take exception to sellers who fit the legal definition of a business but gain advantage by operating on a private account.  It’s understandable, particularly when it’s a large business trading on a private account, although it can seem a little over-zealous sometimes, particularly when a seller is just selling a handful of goods.

rhetorical question though but yes I do blame them for many of their own created problems

if I was top dog of a billion dollar company I’d be concerned but that’s me not them

I wouldn't be concerned.  I'd be looking forward to my imminent early retirement.  Yacht in the Med, New Zealand in the winter would be my choices...

It's almost as though he's trying to get pushed out sooner.  Quite a good plan for him.

It's corporate greed stifling individual enterprise to the detriment of the world in general, a common theme in the continuing decline of Western manufacturing. If people could make and sell items as they wished without suddenly having to switch to an expensive business account, which makes it unviable for most operating at a small cottage industry level, then this would reduce the amount of imported goods and transportation related environmental costs. The underpaid workers in the far east could then also do things for themselves instead of supplying those who should be able to provide for themselves, but are actively prevented from doing so by the constraints placed upon them by leaders in politics and business who are apparently unable to see the larger picture.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So when I send a message to a buyer and get the reply 'Your buyer has reached out about their order. Since you used Simple Delivery, we'll work with your buyer directly on any delivery related questions' has the buyer seen my message or not? Has AI changed it to something else? Has the buyer replied but I am prevented from seeing the message? AI may be vastly smarter than I am (not wishing to be too boastful, but actually it isn't), but I have the item and can see or foresee any problems or just provide information and ultimately have to decide what I'm doing, possibly with some input from the buyer. It seems like crazy control-freakery. Without proper communication available, the only option if something's not quite right may be to cancel the order - all it needs is for eBay to send the buyer one of those formula fake excuses on my behalf and I'll look just like one of those careless giant sellers they like so much. There's very little for eBay's shareholders when a sale is cancelled, so why is this apparently a preferred option?
Before you ask...
I think I may have set the wrong item weight. Did I do that (accidentally), or did eBay? I can't remember. If eBay are going to say whoever set the weight is responsible for the consequences, you would think the listing/order would have to say who set it, but it looks like it doesn't (not that I would be prepared to risk sending an underpaid parcel anyway). Someone is going to say just ignore the generated label and buy your own postage, but what's so bad about trying to communicate with the buyer?

eBay changed the weight and postage costs on all of my ads  which are all incorrect they also changed the dispatch time I tried deleting all of my ads but the site will not let me do it so I am just cancelling any purchase from a buyer I will not ship any items from my workshop with Simple delivery

'While there are still so many issues being caused by SD this thread is and will continue to be useful.'

I agree. It is a valuable thread because it is documenting all the twists & turns, and 'progression' of Simple Delivery, since the thread began, nearly 4 months ago...

Of course some of the issues will be the same... difficulties & confusion over parcel size/weight/pricing, courier choice being overridden, and problems with combined shipping, tracking, and refunding etc.

However, if these things had been better explained, and/or fixed promptly, there would be no need for the repetition, or the continuing need for help & advice!

Unfortunately, unless there has been enough complaint to make eBay seriously rethink the whole mandatory SD situation, they will just press on with the wretched system, and 'let the pipsqueaks keep on grumbling until they eventually run out of steam'... 😤

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Hey,

So I'm trying to do a little bit of clearing out and have generally been avoiding eBay since the Simple Delivery change in April. However I had a video game I thought might be easier to shift through eBay, so I went through the process of listing it and all was fine up until it went live.

I listed it for £30, but it gave me the option of custom delivery set at £2.70, which I was surprised by but selected as I know what I'm doing with that. It didn't reject the listing or anything so assumed it was fine. But I noticed when it went live the total price was £37.88...

I can't make sent of that as the buyer fee was something like £1.88. Is it the case that if you have the option for Custom Delivery it still adds on the simple delivery cost? I can't understand how it would end up adding £7.88 to the base cost otherwise.

If you're a private seller it's probably the Buyer Protection Fee, another method ebay is using to restrict private seller's sales.  I can't swear to that because I have totally lost track of what is being charged to whom and for what.

I believe🤞 that it doesn't appear until checkout.
