AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Been a member for 22 years as a private seller with over 1.5k sold items, last 3-4 years I've been mostly selling football and gum cards and other small items that I collected with my brother in the 70's and 80's.
But I won't be listing on ebay going forward, zero control over postage or couriers and buyer fees make it too much faff to negotiate a multi buy price etc.
I usually post as a 2nd class letter dropped off in a post box on way to work, currently 87p, now with the 'simple delivery' price is £2.72 which is no one is going to pay. Also I assume I'll have to drive to nearest post office and wait around to be served. After hundreds of letters I've never had any problems.
As for parcels, I've used Royal Mail but their service can range from next day to 2 weeks later, which was why I started using Yodel who consistently deliver in 3 days, and are much cheaper. but not available on ebay
Evri are normally based in dodgy looking tat shops and newsagents, and have an awful reputation, so thats a no from me.
So well done ebay hopefully the simple delivery will be ditched or the custom format reinstated

I feel your pain, been a member since 2002 and that's me done with selling on here unless Ebay revert back to the good old days but I doubt that very much. Plenty of other platforms to sell on, good luck for your future selling.

"They" have totally lost the idea about what ebay used to be.
Incredulous how many bad decisions have been made over the last 6 months.
The people running this place need replacing with someone with an actual brain in their heads.

I don't think anyone is running it. It seems to be a rudderless ship without a captain.

Whoever's at the wheel is certainly on the biggest power trip of their lives.

Given that Jamie Iannone ( Ebay CEO) has said "Simple Delivery" is a key revenue stream to Ebay's investors , its difficult to see why Ebay will not roll it out to all sellers on a global basis
My feelings are it will as a Ebay delivery service and for Europe will probably use the Evri / DHL set-up as main courier will only be anything that Evri/DHL can't or won't handle being sent by other couriers . That list will get smaller and smaller and it will only be the heavy oversized options
However the fact that it really has not been rolled out this badly so far , then I would like to think things will change especially in Ebay sales revenue remains poor compared to pre-free to sale and all the other changes
I would like to return to selling thing on Ebay as If I get sell things on then it restricts what new stuff I buy, but I am in no rush to sell and if it mean me sitting on unwanted stuff then I am prepared to wait until either Ebay come to their senses or better ( more palatable) alternatives become available .
Ebay should be aware of the strength of some of niche markets that have thrived on Ebay over the years and I would guess that a small proportion of markets relate to the highest proportion of sales and those mores markets could easily be poached if they are not careful.
While many think Ebay are simply ignoring this discontent , unless they are bunch of complete morons ( possible !) they will be reading a lot of what is being posted and the more noise the better 🙂

Bravo! Excellent post 100% agreed.
everyone hold back no need to sell here, Ebay will come to their senses sooner or later. They have no idea of the damage they are doing to their own business. Such a pity.

The longer this goes on the more i'm convinced that the Ebay version of HAL9000 has become sentient and all the "Daves" are no longer in control..

I must add my voice to the growing chorus of those who are no longer able to tolerate the maddening and diabolical complications that have crept into the system over recent years, “Simple Delivery” being the last straw for me! I have spent an inordinate amount of time this morning on something that should not have been a problem: simple delivery my backside!! I wonder how many others have started drifting toward Vinted? I certainly have as a buyer, might look into it for selling. True, Vinted isn’t perfect either but compared to what eBay has become, it can’t worse!
I’m not going to rehash the eBay issues. They are numerous and well documented on these threads but what I do not understand is how eBay continues to push ahead with these mainly (though not entirely) anti-seller directives when millions of us continue to complain. Arrogance? Big Brother knows best? I don’t know the answer but whatever it is, I am fed up. As soon as I have whittled down my latest stash of clear out stuff, that’s it. It’s a shame, it used to be so good…

Simple Delivery won't be a key revenue stream if people stop selling - it seems to me that the 'management' are wringing the goose that lays the golden eggs trying to increase revenue and the goose has had enough.
My own situation is that I have been accumulating stuff in boxes which I had intended to start listing in a more 'retired' mode - I used to have listing binges but though I could just list two or three a week when I felt like it. I've also just bought some photographic gear which, though not primarily for eBay use, was bought with selling in mind. My selling workflow was very streamlined with free shipping for all BiNs and if I listed an auction, one or two options. Unfortunately, Simple Delivery leaves me feeling psychologically paralysed - it just does not work for me for numerous reasons - not least having to drive five miles to the nearest Post Office or Evri drop off point (not that I would use Evri) but I don't like the idea of having the process taken out of my hands, charging me (or the buyer) more and providing fewer options, both in delivery companies and size/weight prices.
I have wondered why the other delivery companies haven't spoken up (apart from DHL, of course) - I have used them all in the past when they have worked out cheaper.
Like others, I suspect, I hope that the figures force eBay to revert to the system that has worked well for years which they have tried to 'fix'. It is frustrating to have a pile of stuff which I refuse to attempt to list but I'm not budging. As somebody else said, if I don't sell, I have less money to buy so for eBay's revenue stream, it is a lose/lose.

Just an update on my large 10kg box and another reason why Ebay's new system is not great. So usually I'd have used a courier for a large item like this, but with Ebay's new system I have no control. The postman turned up to collect and was like "thats not going to fit in my post bag lol" I just had to apologise and felt bad as he then had to haul it door to door until the van came to pick him up.
If it was raining I am not sure what would have happened... Royal Mail is just not equipped to handle large parcel deliveries like this on a regular basis.
Edit: oops this wasn't supposed to be a reply to you gnosemalf.

I have to agree and leave. Been with Ebay for 24 years and selling music magazines for quite sometime with absolutely no problem. Now I have problems because of their (so-called) Simple Delivery. I cannot enter the correct weight and the smallest weight they suggest is too heavy and costs more.
I've used their help and an agent phoned. Before they asked what the issue is they immediatly wanted my full name, address, etc. I said "before all that, can you change the settings on Simple Delivery?" They said "no!" So they are not going to be any use whatsoever, why do they love wasting our time?
Time to try Vinted

I feel your pain! Your post actually brings to mind the crux of the problem. In the old days eBay was there FOR US: for the myriad of people with different circumstances, different locations, different needs, selling a vast array of items to a vast array of customers. Now, they want us to work for them, to streamline things for their benefit, certainly not ours.
Your remark about potentially lugging a huge parcel several miles reminds me of years ago when my husband took off and left me with, among other things , a gorgeous blue and white Victorian toilet! I swiftly sold it on eBay to a woman in Australia, shipping easy, done in a jiffy, all packed up and off it went. One happy customer, er…job done!😂 But I guess those days are well and truly over!!

Well said.✨

..... Victorian toilet .....
If you couldn't sell that now, things really have hit the bottom!

"...what I do not understand is how eBay continues to push ahead with these mainly (though not entirely) anti-seller directives when millions of us continue to complain. "
I share your depth of feeling, but millions? I wish. Even though there are many new names visiting this forum the last month or two, it's very very far from millions, unfortunately. If you'd said there are millions who are unaware even of the existence of these well hidden forums, that would be closer to the mark.
There are also plenty of dissatisfied people posting in other places on the Internet about this ebay cluster****. And I think there are also many people who've used ebay for years and never before thought to seek any alternative. I'm certainly in that camp. I had no idea, I'd imagined ebay was the only game in town. And if I find something that works for me, maybe ebay will have to do more than just revert the current changes to entice me back.

I think(but I'm not sure it will do any good) as many people as possible should go onto the Live Members chat between 2 & 3pm on a Wednesday, and Voice their opinions on Simple Delivery, try and make the effort to do it...... And then do exactly the same the next Wednesday.... And the one after that.....the Mentors/Advisors in that chat, need to keep hearing from fed up Members...
