NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

"Then why are they running expensive adverts to attract private sellers?

I haven't seen the ads but don't they also run workshops and provide tools 'helping you to grow your business'? i.e. The intention seems to be that sellers are being recruited to run businesses on Ebay? The promised land must be out there somewhere.

@lucy_farmer Ok, maybe the goal is to have private buyers and business sellers?

I have a 34 year old son and the last place he would buy anything from is Ebay 😞

He buys (a lot) direct from the manufacturers /official retail sites.  Usually designer clothes

A lot of people he works with are 22 to 30.....I asked him to ask them about Ebay.  Again all negative responses and they do not use it.   The younger girls go direct to the cheap clothing sites.   As for Vted.......great to buy from but they would not sell on there either.   With the younger generation it appears they just buy cheap new disposable clothing.

Yes although they also seem to target email me to offer a loan to grow the business on my private seller account which seems completely wrong. Maybe I am in their sweet spot for sales rate to think I might be trading but buying to resell is the last thing I would do I just want rid of all this stuff it's just a jumble of stuff from me and my family no longer required and mistake purchases over the years.

Briefly put a test listing on as they were still allowing me custom postage, however when I scrolled down to the bottom of the listing, the page was constantly buffering (blue spinning circle) just wondering if anyone else has had this happening, I suspect it's possibly a way of them being able to change my postage options once a sale goes through🤔

I found it's become embarrassing to admit you use ebay in front of young people as you get that look that respectfully acknowledges you are of a different generation to them. That doesn't happen if I talk about buying or selling stuff at the clothing marketplace as that's normal to them. I actually now feel younger for using that place it's like an anti-aging cream.

I find Next has some good stuff if you are selective but there is also lots of low quality stuff where the margins must be huge and I guess people just buy it because they are reassured by the brand.

The clothing marketplace isn't just for clothing anymore they have introduced new categories and maybe ebay didn't anticipate that competition when making their oppressive plans to crush everyone last year. Sadly they have a Vision that seems to limit what categories they might offer in future so I will still need to use ebay for some stuff.

I also know my son reads all the reviews about a product before he decides to buy it.    He researches all the official retail sites to get the best price.   He never researches Ebay 😞   Also he always buys absolutely everything online......even personal items like deodrants aftershaves etc.

Just scrolling to the bottom of this page and seeing the photos that eBay use to promote their ‘Featured Posts’ tells you everything you need to know about the sort of hip and happening young people they’re clearly trying to court.

In my experience almost everyone I’ve ever spoken to (outside of regular buyers and sellers) considers eBay to be a bargain basement style site and certainly not somewhere one goes for fashionable or high end items. Quite the opposite in fact. When I’ve told people that I bought something on eBay more often than not I get a look like I must have fallen on hard times. 🤣

Hence why compared to eBay my website (often from my you-tube channel) is getting the best sales ever.

Plus most brand names do not allow products on eBay as it devalues the product

Also from a buyers perspective on the website, they get premium postage of

my choice, depending on their location and realistic delivery estimates. Now that`s what you call simple delivery

Same with my daughter, she doesn’t even have an account on eBay and last time (about 3 years ago) asked me to buy her something she couldn’t get because she lives in the US, other than that she avoids it

With regard to my previous post about briefly listing an item then ending it as a test my fears were confirmed as when I went to the re-listing tool I was put straight on to simple delivery. I would therefore urge anyone who is still able to start with custom postage to be wary as eBay may well change it.

if you don’t like Evri and prefer RM, then you can select RM only and deselect Evri.

Yes you can, but if you do deselect Evri your Royal Mail prices will be higher, and higher than you could buy yourself online.

eBay will still promote listings on search engines

eBay have never promoted any of my listings as far as I can see
