NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I disagree with your statement about people only stirring up anti-ebay sentiment.

A lot of smaller post offices and their postmasters/managers know a lot of their regular customers personally and they obviously don't like seeing customers they know paying inflated charges for postage.

I for one will not pay a inflated price to send something by SD and because I trust RM I like dealing with them directly.

Plus even one of my local posties has stopped selling bits and pieces on here because he got fed up of being told what to do and he has no intention of using SD.

I agree. They have either not given their representatives enough information in the community chat or they have told them not to say to much and just to say they will refer any difficult questions to the relevant departments.

You are right. The last real definitive message I got said SD was compulsory from the 15th April. Then there were posts saying it was being rolled out. Then a date of the 28th April was mentioned. It is now the 28th and there's still no definitive announcement or information as of yet.

Also, they seem to think SD is a god-send or something but the weight choices go from Up to 2kg parcel straight to Up to 15kg parcel. So with just RM, it goes from £3.44 straight to £10.55!!!!! Nothing in-between!! I mean, what's that about???

I agree that they have started to be a little ridiculous
BUT,  selling books on AMAZON,( & have done since 2010) which is all I sell as private sellers of other items have no place on them... charge 50%,  yes  50% on lower priced items.  I have  just sold one, (by  mistake I had not deleted it to put it on EB!!), for £7.00 (their postage is stupid mind you,  haven't changed it in 8 years I think) is only allowed at £2.80.  They deducted £3.74 commission!!!As prices rise they lower it slightly but I have never paid less than 20% on a book even if over £100.I had gone through, so I thought, all my items less than £15.  The other gall was that the next copy was being offered at £29!!  I am not tech literate to fix up "notifications" when other copies are listed.
Mind you, they do not allow for mixed bundles,  a very very narrow window of opportunity there.

That's just ridiculous.

To be honest I've done a few dummy listings without listing them and every one worked out more expensive than dealing with RM directly. I even left evri as another option in the dummy listings but at no stage will I ever choose to use evri. So that's 2 reasons why I am not going to relist any of the listings I removed.

There really isn't any need for anyone on here to "stir up anti-ebay sentiment  --  ebay has done a far better job of creating that sentiment than anyone on here ever could.

First by inflicting such an unfit for purpose scheme on private sellers at all and then, as always, every ebay employee disappearing instead of answering any of the numerous questions.

Remember that you are ebay's lab-rats that this being tested on and act appropriately.

@theelench

Sad bit is that ebay private sellers aren't the only who are part of this "experiment". It involves the local POs as well.  So many in past 8-10 years have closed down and I just wonder if many more will close in future purely down to this money grab experiment from eBay.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I agree with you this post has absolutely nothing to do with stirring up anti-ebay sentiment.

Ebay only have themselves to blame for the discontent that many  genuine  people feel  here as they quite simply could have reacted and responded to a very genuine issue.   They have simply hidden from their customers , which is pretty reprehensible .  The only response to everyone who has complained is quote back the "wonders" of SD and say they will pass on the feedback .

Its entirely Ebays fault that they have only had 94p in revenue from me since September 2024 , I didn't ask them to remove selling fees,  and if they hadn't kept giving me 80% selling discount every 2 weeks they could have earnt more . If only they had let me know that they needed more more money!

I didn't mind paying selling fees my only compliant there were times when Ebay should have done more for those who paid those fees.

If only they had approached me on a survey and asked whether I would rather keep paying selling fees  or have  BPF fees charge me more and devalue my  auctions , but they didn't . I only they had asked my opinion on "Simple delivery" but they didn't

The only thing they have surveyed me on was a recent purchase from a business seller and they did mention how well Ebay had done on packing and delivery and not the seller who actually posted it an packaged to me .  SD has very little to do with Simple Delivery and will eventually morph in Ebay Delivery where all sellers use Ebay Delivery service and Ebay chosen courier

I do find it odd the motivation for some of the recent posts and  those belittling and rubbishing some contributors explained their own motives .

I know why I am here  and its explained in the title of this post "NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY"

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Something I have noticed , in terms or private seller Automated feedback  it has been quoted somewhere  as being a new feature of SD

However I have noticed that since mid April  around the 15th ! it appears that business sellers now seem to be receiving auto mated feedback yet business sellers aren't subject to BPF or SD so what does that mean about Auto FB  as a new change

I have also noticed this weekend where I did place a couple of bids on auction that when they ended , I get the messages saying the listing was no longer available  rather the normal you did win .

There do seem to be a lot of changes going on in general . I do think that whatever reason the SD change is pre-requisite for a lot of other Ebay code changes rather than just forcing  out SD itself

That's a different point. I have no doubt many post office employees see parcels going through the network with absurdly high weights on them, and naturally believe their customer could have found a cheaper way.

That's not the same as simply claiming not to know about the new arrangement with packages marked "Marketplace Seller", and how to deal with these packages. That's what some posters in this thread are still, rather laughingly, trying to claim is still happening, when quite clearly, it is not.

This thread contains dozens of good posts and lots of useful information. Sadly it also contains a lot of input from troublemakers, who often are, to put it bluntly, not very bright.

I have now sold a few items on my private account with SD. I don't like it, and would far rather carry on as I had been. I'm not a blind eBay follower, but I am intelligent enough to spot many of the bogus postings on this thread, as I imagine many others are. (By the way, this is not a criticism of you @rugbyguy1960  Although you were a little over-keen near the beginning with, with rather too many needless responses, I think you have moderated this thread well.)

Hi have they removed the option for collection only? Every time I change it to collection only it reverts to delivery only and asks me to select a postage method 😭

Thank you. I honestly never imagined this thread would have as many posts as it has done.

I do definitely agree that this thread has had some great posts and it definitely has had a good few posts that are completely off topic.

I only created it because I trust RM and I will never use evri and because I have no intention of paying a postage charge that costs me more than the carrier of my choice. Plus SD and the BPF farce is what caused me to remove my listings and has stopped me from hardly buying now.

I am aggrieved about these changes because for 19 years I thought this site was really good.

over 2kg to 15kg is £5.64 on Evri with SD.

Thank you. I have seen a couple of auto feedbacks and I agree that all they said were item delivered and order was complete.

That really doesn't give any true indication regarding what a buyer would actually comment on.

i think SD is good and I love it!

I use Evri every time and have deselected RM. I don’t have a printer.

1) SD is much much quicker to do than independently through Evri website

2) it’s cheaper than “normal” Evri. £3 odd rather than £5 like for like service

3) my sale have gone up as SD looks cheaper off-setting Buyers Protection.
4) it’s slower than “normal” Evri but you get money quicker (as soon as it’s delivered and positive feedback)

5) you can use buyers’ money to pay postage rather than your “own”

yes you have to check weights and all mine have been correct “guess” by eBay.

(ebay have said they will honour postage unweights as long as it’s their guess. If you “custom” it and it’s wrong, that’s your problem)

Indeed, the Simple Delivery labels do not show the price on them - why would they?  thats a confidential figure between ebay and Royal Mail - and I seriously doubt that Mrs Miggins' horizon terminal at the Post office can pull that data out of the codes on the label.

The SD labels also don't show whether the item is a parcel or large letter or the weight either, that may also be a deliberate effort to stop them getting rejected at the Post office counter.

I have received a couple of auto feedbacks on this business account. They seem to register fairly quickly, I think it was about 1 week. My most recent feedback was auto but then the buyer has been able to leave their own which is a relief, I initially thought the auto feedback were arriving too fast but it doesn’t really matter. One thing I haven’t been that impressed with is a few have not been given because they arrived after eBay’s fantasy estimated delivery dates.
