NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I still don't understand why the postage rate should depend on the value of the item sold - up to £100? Royal Mail Tracked 48 gives cover up to £150 in case of loss.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I don’t know why some contributors to this thread just want to a antagonists. The idea of the thread is it push back against some of eBay’s new (and very unwanted policies). I for one stand by everyone who doesn’t like, SD and BPF. They are both based on eBay’s greed for profit. BPF should revert to a sellers fee, and SD should be optional.  Off to sign the petition now.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Great post and very well said. To many users really feel like they have taken so much that it's about time they made their views noticed.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I think many others feel exactly the same. No transparency and no real communication.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Very well said. Sellers fees were better and transparent and a seller could sell items for a price that took the fees into consideration. All these changes have achieved is that this platform gains money from buyers because of BPF, and it gains money from sellers because of the inflated price that SD costs.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I’ve just heard an advert from the Post Office on the radio, promoting their services.  I couldn’t help thinking they’re missing a trick - they should be making it “FREE TO POST” and make the recipient pay the postage fee 🤣

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

But just because they believe it's right does not make it right. The biggest issues are why try fixing what wasn't broken. Why get rid of transparency by replacing it with things that are so clouded.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Maybe it doesn't come free but another reason for changes like this being made is something called excessive greed with no transparency. Surely the amount of discord from private sellers and buyers and some smaller business sellers shows that.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

What clouds all this is that if I listed something for £10 that is not the cost for a buyer because of BPF added on. Also SD affects what a seller gets because in 90% of cases SD works out more expensive than dealing directly with the courier of choice.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Seeing as baseless conspiracy is the order of the day I assume they think I work for eBay.

i don’t, I actually think BPF isn’t great, nor is simple delivery, though I’m perfectly happy to let my occasional old toy under this setup.

its worth noting though, this works on Vinted. But that’s because the sellers I assume tend to be younger, it’s always as far as I know been this setup and in general the items on sale there are clothes or shoes at a low cost price so simple delivery works (and there’s more options)

eBay it hasn’t worked because there’s too many permutations of what can be sold, of highly differing values and fragility.

my issue on these boards and the point I mainly tend to respond to is posters who don’t seem to get there are costs associated with what eBay do. The lack of understanding in some cases of the fact transactions accrue costs for eBay is wild.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Wow this farce gets even better.

I'm still on custom postage, mainly RM 2nd class. My despatch time is 2 days. Now all my listings are showing prospective customers... buy it now and receive in 1-2 days.

Are they using trumps tarrif equation?

How the proverbial can a customer receive an item n that time frame if I may not post until day 2, using a service that takes 3 days?

Ebay is either officially broke or being run by deceptive imbeciles.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ebay is and has been for a very long time……been run by little children.

simple delivery will not work - primarily due to large letters under £20 not been catered for, for a reasonable price - £2.70 is far too much postage, people won’t buy these small low value large letter items anymore.

and ebay’s should be charging fees for selling. Simple. The buyer protection fee is not free to sell!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

eBay had US$7.43b of debt, at December 2024, which is about the same as the year before. You can click the chart for greater detail. However, it does have US$5.90b in cash offsetting this, leading to net debt of about US$1.53b  eBay had liabilities of US$6.10b falling due within a year, and liabilities of US$8.11b due beyond that. On the other hand, it had cash of US$5.90b and US$1.19b worth of receivables due within a year. So its liabilities outweigh the sum of its cash and (near-term) receivables by US$7.13b.

While this might seem like a lot, it is not so bad since eBay has a huge market capitalization of US$30.5b, and so it could probably strengthen its balance sheet by raising capital if it needed to. But it's clear that we should definitely closely examine whether it can manage its debt without dilution.

Probably why they have introduced BPF and SD this year  to try and claw back some debt ,but with the loss of so many sellers in UK this year it might have not helped like they thought ,
