AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Bit patronising but I'll tell you.
A lot of business sellers and "mentors" (who appointed these wise guys?) look at a set of listings and decide on the spot that this or that private seller are a company or sole trader. I think that is for eBay to decide not self-appointed "experts" who act like informers.
Then we get the goody goodies who agree with and defend everything ebay do however ridiculous and unfair. I call them the ebaybies.

..... I think that is for eBay to decide .....
Hell will freeze over first.

I think it is. This morning RM was £3.77 but they dropped the price this afternoon.
Someone's juggling the numbers somewhere.
Might be different tomorrow 😀
15-04-2025 8:51 PM
And who are you MR CAPITALS to decide who is and isn't a genuine business?
The judgement of people like you seems to be if someone is buying AND selling. But a collector of model cars or postcards can do both. They keep a piece for a while and then pass it on. Nothing wrong with that but they often get tarred with the 'business seller' brush.
I get a bit fed up with these self-appointed judges who think they are superior to other sellers. They are not.

If that's the case then the buyer will never know who the courier is based on price if it continually changes.

Hi
unfortunately simple delivery is not for me , I’ve always done my own thing and also supported my local post office shop
I have no intention of driving to god knows where to drop off something cheap
with regard to packaging you need to think outside the box 🤣 my local Tesco store provides all the boxes I need free
anything really big I visit a local photocopier company who are happy to help
other materials can be to infill , I buy tape in packs of six online it’s quite cheap
it’s a great shame eBay have made things harder and more complicated than it need be
recently I’ve still had to wait for funds even though delivery has been confirmed when I’ve checked and the customer has left feedback
as for buyer protection I get that anyway with my credit card purchases

This table still appears on eBay help pages when It is wrong
Also why does it have 2-10kg showing here when it’s totally non existent on the postage sections when you’re listing under SD and it certainly should be existent otherwise postage is being overcharged
or is it right and the postage section when listing is wrong
?
🤣
you have to laugh but it isn’t funny
its not a newspaper article , it’s supposed to be a factual guide to selling and buying here
but it isn’t

Yes what I see and what is actually on my listing is different. Very odd. My listings to everyone say what I want but when I click on it, the postage is different. So who knows which one the buyer would pay.
15-04-2025 9:26 PM
I believe that the price potential buyers see includes BPF. If it's different to the price you actually listed it for.

Hopefully at some stage they will announce a definitive guide to selling on here using SD lol.

Totally agree with you.

No I'm just talking about the postage. The price that people see on my listing is what I set but when I go on my listings myself and look, the ones that have changed to SD are different.

Tall order
im only whinging because it should all be black and white
it’s only flipping postage , basic stuff, clerical admin logical stuff that most people on this board could probably manage
they should have got someone at Royal Mail to be in charge of it all
as they have hundreds of years of experience
🤣
Anyway apart from all the silly badges I got notification I’m an advisor now *bleep*
i will have to be careful what I type and state from now on but I’m sure I’m allowed to “chat”
just can’t wait for this debacle to be over
spent good part of a month if not more here every day

I've spent about the same amount of time looking at threads lol. I think I've gone up 2 levels since this thread started. I agree though that all we want to see is something definitive.
15-04-2025 9:47 PM
I'm glad they've not violated your listings much. One of the reasons I took my last few listings off was because the price I listed a item for wasn't the price potential buyers saw because of BPF.

If you’re listings have been changed to SD firstly the price of postage will probably be different to yours and secondly under the postage bit that buyers see it will say “standard tracked delivery”
I clicked on buy now on your purple bag 3.89 postage and that’s what I would pay if I bought it
having a quick scroll it doesn’t look like SD postage to me anywhere
Odd that you see different

think I might have suggested a collector once was a business, primarily because they stated what they were selling was new.
but collectors aren’t the issue, you seem to believe that, I never said anything about collectors.
its private sellers selling multiples of things like new cardboard boxes or electrical parts with stock photos, or selling plants or hand made jewellery They are almost certainly businesses.

But when you list, in the price bit, the bpf is at the bottom of the page telling you the amount so you can work out what you want the final price to be. I've generally changed mine so the price is 'normal' looking rather than weird pennies etc etc. It does take some getting used to though - clicking on it to see what the final price is, once listed.

I have emailed the eBay Executive Office a couple of times about the recent changes. The first time I got a very boilerplate response. The second time they really showed that they really don’t understand or appreciate the problems they have caused. All I got in response to several points I raised about Simple Delivery was:
Simple Delivery was designed and implemented to help streamline every step of the postage experience on eBay.
Well, thank you very much.

To be honest apart from creating a couple of dummy listings to see what options SD would give me I've not listed anything since I took my listings off on the 5th. They are back in my collection for now. BPF and SD are things that put me off selling here for now.
