AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

"Surely that has the same impact as the money back guarantee always had?"
But surely it's not the same because ebay has pocketed the postage money from the buyer and still has it?

Only if it's a 'letter', not a 'large letter' as I understand it, where I believe you have to use tracked.

The postage is Royal Mail Tracked 48 which offers compensation of up to £150.
With Simple Delivery eBay is providing its own compensation, up to £750. The level of compensation normally provided the carrier isn't relevant.
Where business contracts are concerned the carrier usually doesn't provide any compensation in return for a heavily discounted price.

Change it back to 8.99 to see what happens
sometimes it’s glitchy

That’s not what customer services told me
they said they will only check the weight and price not the size
and test listings I’ve done allow large letter in custom postage

Its the second paragraph that gets me. Is it saying that you can send an item out with SD but if the buyer doesn't receive it you might or might not get it back. As the SD labels are supposed to have the seller's address on them, if the seller does not receive them back then where are they going?
I think they are just covering themselves there in case the carrier doesn't return it for some reason.

How do you make that out? Ebay will have paid the postage money to the carrier so they won't still have it.

Do you think they've paid the same amount that the buyer gave them though, or kept a cut?

Edwardian-dreams
I changed it back and then noticed that although I had checked for RM second class, I didn't notice that had the measurements of a medium parcel. So I revised again and put my price back up - thank you for that.
I have always just checked the RM second class as it has never been an issue before.

RM postage is cheaper than the Ebay labels so the extra money has to be going somewhere!

Well that's a slightly different argument but a fair point.

We were told by customer services that the BPF would not be included and that if we listed items for £9.99 and under 100g we could still use ‘custom postage’ . As yet our listings have not changed. We revised them before 5th April when the the Special Delivery was an option. We chose Custom Postage. Edwardian-dream also seems to have seen same info but your experience seems to contradict this. Like everything else discussed not even customer service are giving correct advice. We will wait to see what happens by 15th.

I hope ebays shares don't plummet to much due to trumps tarriff fiasco that would be funny 😂 they'll be begging us all to come back

SD still shows £2.74 for a 100g letter ? all opting out of SD at the moment, so where is the update is there any news ? and was international post options going as well ? GSP has killed shipping from USA £14 for a letter #off)

I think you have hit the nail on the head.
Everything about the SD suppliers, Evri and Royal Mail, to Ebay depends on the terms negotiated between the three of them, such as who pays who for what, and we will never be told the details of such commercially sensitive details, which are of no relevance to us.
IDS, the owners of Royal Mail, have been arguing to Ofcom that the prices of the Universal System are unsustainable, and the cause of them losing £1M a day so I would not expect them to be willing to enter into negotiations with Ebay with prices even lower than they are forced to sell at by the US system. Add on that our government are taking a 20% cut in the form of VAT (services exempt for US if bought off Royal Mail or Post Office but vatable if bought off Ebay) I think the prices look pretty good.

i would note if you wish to support your local post office (mine are all closed now ) you need to buy with them as they do not get a cut from on line sales hence the cheaper price and still have to do all the work taking you parcels (my local PO SAID and would tern large piles away) all work no pay?

Yes, I was talking about carriers in general when I mentioned heavily discounted price. I would expect Royal Mail to be far less flexible on price than any other carrier for the reasons you have stated.
I'm not sure what you are referring to with regards to the VAT? Royal Mail Tracked is a VATable service where ever you buy it from.

They may not be engaging but they are definitely listening, banning and editing. Give it time with the other site, tell people and your regulars and things should pick up. I've been looking at it too to see how it is. Might give it a punt.

They still get a commission (per item and per sack) but obviously not as much as they would do if you purchased directly from them.
