Misleading information on nutcracker ornaments

HI,

Is there anything that can be done about the number of misleading titles for those selling Christmas nutcracker ornaments. There is a plethora of items which advertise large 150 centimeter figures but when you read the detailed descriptions they are usually under 30 centimeters tall.

I have tried complaining to eBay about this but the A1 generated response that this was not against any eBay regulations and no action was taken. When I asked the seller why this was, their reply that there was sometimes a discrepancy when the items were manually measured!

Is it not against eBay policy to write misleading titles?

Ebay's answer is that the buyer will be covered by the money back guarantee if what they get is not what was advertised.

You will need to give examples - checking from highest price the sizes on loads of them seem correct - though there are a few marked large, medium and larger, without sizes.

Thanks very much for your reply.

It is surprising that you found it difficult to find such items. If you key in 'giant nutcracker 150 cm' and then sort on lowest price there are literally hundreds of such listings. Examples of such sellers are fuiroshop, clysmize, bapeatstore, unguiion, calvinsen.... I could go on. Unfortunately this is not someone making a slip up during measurement but a deliberate act of misrepresentation.

I realise that it is possible to get your money back if the item is not as described but does eBay want a load of dissatisfied customers when they have to go to the bother of going through the returns procedure? I would have thought that eBay would not have wanted to gain the reputation of being untrustworthy.
