Live animals prohibition policy...

Hi all!

I was one of the people selling aquarium snails on here and a month ago received an email from eBay that stated that live animals (explicitly mentioning snails) will be prohibited from 17th of March, and that I need to take down my listings with snails in them.

I have now "ended" all my snail listings and they are in my "ended" list.

Am I correct to assume that is all I needed to do?

Or do I need to "delete" them from the "ended" list too?

Only asking this as this very policy was completely reversed for US sellers, and the same might happen in the UK (or one can hope). If that was to happen, I could relist them from "ended" while keeping all the stats.

Before these policies have been randomly put in place a lot of people relied on these sales for income! We have a right to be outraged. Why are you commenting if it clearly doesn't effect you?

Well said. Like you say this has been a big problem for a lot of people who rely on ebay for a business or side hustle. Was hoping it would be overturned like in the states but it hasn’t.

How come there's still lots of the listings up?

Because eBay are only removing ones that are reported and sellers are taking no responsibility for their policy breaching listings by removing them themselves.

Whilst the vast majority would agree with Papso22. E Bay have not handled this matter well at all, they may not have given it their full consideration. Well its a shame for those that breed and sell things that are low risk like worms which can survive for 30 days in the post. I spent a lot of time and money developing this safe method.  So after selling these for 20 years its not allowed due to a blanket rule of no selling live animals or even there eggs. Sledge Hammer to crack a nut policy. Not even half though out.  A great pity that it must end in this way with no chance of having our say but thats the new E Bay way. Its not what the sellers want. I have 100% positive feed back  over 5000 transactions not all worms but no communication on this issue with E Bay. I think they could have gone down the road of approved sellers based on past feedback history and the fact some  of us have invested a lot of time and money into making it possible to ship animals in a manner that is miles ahead of the traditonal shipping methods used by the present trade wholesalers. I could go on and on but E Bay does not listen it would rather you just gave up. We will never make progress if we produce a product that we cannot bring to the market. In this instance I feel let down by E Bay who have not taken into account the very high standards that were acheived sucessfully whilst I was trading on  Bay.
