Listing (upto 8 times)

Hi, just a small query hoping someone can clarify. After I have used my free listings I understand I will be charged 35p there after. However, I thought once re-listed the item would not need to be listed for another 8 weeks, (it states listing free upto 8 times) but I am being charged every 4 weeks for the same item not 8 weeks, or is that only for  new listings.

You can set an auction style listing to relist automatically up to 8 times when you set it up.

Are you being charged for this particular listing?

My auctions all end after 3 weeks and need to be manually relisted.

When the toggle switch is selected, auctions set to relist will automatically relist 8 times:

I don't think that's correct - the wording is "up to" 8 times and on all of mine, I get this message after 3 relists:

It's a complete pain, started happening a while ago, before that I could list and ignore for 2 months; it was definitely happening before the 300 private listings limit came in 😞

probably completely wrong on this but i thought it depended on the catergory as to how many times it got relisted free.

Well, that's a whole load of weirdness. No idea why it's stopping at 3 automatic relists.

Auto relists on auctions are only available for new and occasional sellers. 

Automatic relists and renewals

Auction-style listings

If you select the auto-relist option (if available) when you create your listing:

• Auctions with a duration of 5 days or more will be automatically relisted up to 8 times
• Auctions with a duration of 1 or 3 days will be automatically relisted up to 8 times as a 7-day listing
• Auto-relists are free, except for listings in vehicles categories

Automatic relisting is available for most categories, but there are some exclusions (see below). If your item doesn't sell after 8 relists, it will appear in your unsold items.

Keep in mind that the automatic relist option is only available on listings created by new and occasional sellers. The option will not show for other sellers.

that is not correct!  I always (until i delisted everything) clicked the auto relist and have been selling for years now.  Some of my items had also been on for a couple of years and yet always got auto relisted.  It was only the occasional item that did not seem to do it for the 8 weeks.   Mine have always been 7 day auctions as well.

The screenshot I posted was from a test draft listing I just put together on a 20 year old private account selling regularly, I do think that part of the guidance page is another bit that's out of date, I've never known that to be the case.

It may well be that the eBay help page doesn't match up with reality but that was actually a pretty recent change made to the page.
