Last time for me

I set up a personal account a few weeks ago to sell some unwanted personal items rather than them going through my business account. I had read a great deal of bad things about Simple Delivery but thought I'd see how it goes.

My last item was sold this morning and was given an EVRI label again. So this meant a 20 mile round trip to drop it off for an item that sold for 18 quid, I'd never of sold it had I known.

We have Royal Mail and ParcelForce collect from us everyday, so either of those options would of been easy for us. This is I think the tenth EVRI label in the past few weeks, only one with Royal Mail and one with DHL which was a disaster (3 hours late).

My conclusion about this experience. eBay, what is simple about this process for the seller please? you have taken away the sellers options for delivery of their own items with no care on speed of delivery or just how awkward it is for some people having to physically take their items to be dropped off.

I will never use this account again, anything I sell personally will go through the business account from now on so I have control of who delivers it and how fast the customer needs it.

In my opinion, EVRI is one of the worst couriers in the UK, I would never willingly send something with them even if it was free postage. I'm not alone I'm sure reading many of the threads on here, and I have a feeling SD will be scrapped by the middle of next year and good riddance to it.

The item this morning was urgent, and ebay provide a 3-5 day service, and knowing EVRI they'll not bother picking it up from the drop off point until Friday.

If eBay ever try to force SD on business sellers I will close my account completely.

Surely you would know if you also have a business account that you can choose RM as your courier when using SD?

What's having a business account got to do with SD. I never saw that option when I was listing? so again, not so simple for a newbie.

I would have thought your experience would lead you to read the SD policy before listing. I was wrong.

Simple Delivery certainly isn't simple but as said you can opt out of using Evri here:

'The item this morning was urgent, and ebay provide a 3-5 day service, and knowing EVRI they'll not bother picking it up from the drop off point until Friday.'

Even though you did not realise you could exclude Evri, your buyer could have opted for Express Tracked Delivery, which is Royal Mail Tracked 24. I don't think there is an Express Evri option available with Simple Delivery?

Unfortunately, the buyer is not shown the courier selection on the listing.  All they see is Standard Tracked Delivery, or Express Tracked Delivery. It is no wonder both buyers & sellers are confused about postage.

Anyone new to Simple Delivery will probably get something wrong, somewhere along the line... 😖

EDDs may have something to do with the buyers selection. If ebay shows the same EDD for all services, which is happening,  then they're probably going to select the cheapest service and expect the speed of the quickest.
