Just sold and item for 99p and Prepaid Postage (I pay) is £5.15???

Just sold and item for 99p and Prepaid Postage (I pay) is £5.15???

1/ I dont even know where Ebay got this fee from (Its a large envelope)

2/ Is there anyway to cancel the postage so I can buy a £2.70 label?

3/Shall I just cancel the whole sale?

I notice I have about 40 listing with Seller Pays £5.15

Seller Hub wont change these postages

Any ideas?

Im thinking whether to delete all these listing and them  relist. This might use the proper postage charges?

I just checked the sold listing and yes it's unfortunate you offered free postage on the auction and it ended at just 99p (plus 96p ebay buyer tax) so if it only attracted 1 bid you were always going to make a loss as those items would either be heavy large letter or small parcel size. I guess that's the risk you took and it didn't pay off.

Then more unfortunately either you chose Simple Delivery, had no choice but SD, or ebay 'violated' your listing (in accordance with their terms) to change it to SD.

Then even more unfortunately ebay seem to have a technical problem at the moment where they are charging more for SD small parcels than their published rate card. Maybe they think it's a medium parcel as their AI may have guessed incorrectly during the 'violation' process. Unclear if they are going to refund anyone for such mistakes.

So basically you can either accept the loss and hope ebay might refund you for the SD overcharge or cancel the sale and disappoint the buyer with potential implications. Personally I would accept that it was my mistake to start at 99p with free postage and take the loss but try and claim on ebay for why the postage is higher than their published price.

Also if ebay allows you (everyone seems to have a different listing edit page these days) then ensure the size and weight are entered on your other listings so you have a strong argument that ebay should be deducting the correct postage value in future.

Eg your acorn power adaptor

you’ve listed as 1-2 kgs that’s why it’s shown as 5.15 (which is wrong anyway but thats another story)

This should go as 0-1kg ?

I’m not sure if you can bulk amend weight/package size

someone else might know

Re: Just sold and item for 99p and Prepaid Postage (I pay) is £5.15???

eBay are listing 1-2 kg small parcels at £5.15 which has changed all my postage prices from £3.40

The seller hub seems to edit postage in bulk, but most items are not in fact changed.

Looks like I will have to edit every single listing separately

I'm also having to edit 2kg small parcels to 1 kg to get the right postage price

What a mess this is

@chriselee There does appear to be a glitch with regards to the prices some people are paying for postage on Simple Delivery - there have a been a number of discussions about this over the past week-or-so. I have also just raised this concern in the weekly Community Chat.

You will need to go through and edit each listing where you have offered free postage, looking at your listings, it would seem that these have been moved over to Simple Delivery. You'll need to check to see what 'Package Size' Simple Delivery has chosen for each of your listings. You may, or may not, have the option to select Small Parcel (or Large Letter, if appropriate). If not, you may be in the same situation that I am currently in, where my only option is to select Medium Parcel at either £3.64 or £5.15.

With regards to bulk editing as mentioned by @edwardian-dreams, this may still be possible for you if you are not on Mandatory Simple Delivery. Unfortunately, the option to amend parcel weights and dimensions (either in bulk, or individually) appears to have been removed entirely for anyone (like myself) who is on Mandatory Simple Delivery.

Good luck!
