Item delivered can’t access funds for 3 weeks

I have sold and shipped something through the GSP. The item was delivered today 2 weeks after I posted it. I am a trusted seller and usually always get my funds instantly but for this sale they are on hold, it’s a sale of £850 so that could be why. After delivery today the status of the hold says item delivered funds will be released on the 2nd of February. To me this is absolutely insane. I shouldn’t be waiting a month for any funds as a trusted seller. But giving a buyer 3 weeks from delivery makes 0 sense. Does anyone know if there’s a way I can get my funds sooner? I’ve messaged the buyer about leaving feedback multiple times, and they have ignored me. This is totally unfair and if I really don’t get my funds til feb I will be moving off of EBay.

High value items can sometimes incur a longer payment hold of up to 30 days.  Don't think there is anything you can do really to to speed it up.   Ebay don't generally take feedback into consideration as it's not always accurate.

  • High priced items or unusual selling patterns may lead to transaction holds for up to 30 days to help us ensure that buyers don't have any issues with the order.

If that is the case then eBay absolutely have to take feedback into consideration particularly with the new " funds held" and if feedback is left they need to release funds immediately...

I have sold a few high price items in the past ( over £300) and never had an issue of receiving funds immediately.

As for unusual selling patterns - what does this mean exactly? People take breaks for  ill health or holidays or even now when visibility is limited ( for whatever reason eBay have going on as it does come down to them) so there are no organic sales.

Yeh I don’t have any unusual selling patterns. Just unsure as to why a buyer would need 30 days to create a return. That’s longer than what a business gives for brand new items. Really annoying when you put in so much effort pay extra for postage costs etc to maintain a high selling standard, and they hold money for this long it’s just not necessary.

Ebay offer the MBG ( Moneyback guarantee ) which is 30 days...so they are obviously covering their backs in this instance by holding on to the funds longer as a precaution ... i.e the buyer could open a case... damaged, not as described etc ...

However there is absolutely no need to hold funds when the item is delivered and the buyer is happy...

There are far too many ways that eBay can " hold funds" particularly from private sellers.

If they want to hold funds then I do think that " feedback" should be part of that especially since the system experiences " glitches" whereby it shows delayed or dispatched, when the parcel has already been  delivered.

I am sorry you are experiencing this and hope you receive your funds soon.

Yeh I completely agree. I would be more understanding of this situation if I was a new seller but I am not and have maintained a good seller level for a long time. I really hope the buyer leaves a review but they’re not responding either.. typical, I responded instantly to all their questions but when it’s me needing a response I’m ignored, super annoying. Thanks for taking the time to comment! 😊
