Is standard tracking protected for the seller?

Ebay states that they protect the seller if something goes missing etc, does this include if the buyer only paysor Standard tracked?

Is standard tracking protected for the seller?

As long as the seller uses whatever postage the buyer gets through Simple Delivery, including standard, they are covered for loss or damage in transit.    The buyer opens the relevant claim and they get their money back from ebay.   The seller keeps the payment.

If you are selling under the Simple Delivery system:

Regardless of which delivery service the buyer chooses (they get 'Standard' or 'Express' to pick from) the seller is supposedly protected from loss or damage  to the item in the post.

Ebay state that ; once you've handed over your item to the carrier, ebay will take responsibility for refunding the buyer should anything go wrong with the delivery.

Thats great.

But please read the 'small print'.

Ebay also state that the seller is covered 'if the item conforms to Simple Delivery Terms , and the carriers' terms.  (my italics)

The carriers' terms seem to include something called the 'exclusion from compensation' list.

If you've never heard of or read the list, please do. It's on the Evri site.

What ebay are actually going to do , when things go wrong with certain sales , is still a bit....'nebulous'🌫!

But I'm pretty sure that for non-excluded items, it'll all go just fine....

The item is a console and will be posted via Royalmail, I have always posted my items using Special Delivery but obviously this option is up to the buyer now, so I just wanted to make sure due to the value of the item.

'The item is a console...'

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you mean a recording console? Under the category 'musical instruments'? (pro-audio gear).

(If it's another sort of console, ignore this answer 😁  I only know that word as a term for a mixing desk!)

Royal Mail also have a pretty exhaustive 'exclusion list', I'm afraid to say.

(But that is why  R.M. had Special delivery : not only would that insure your items, they'd also take much better care of 'specials' and they couldn't be 'left in a safe place' etc : they had to be signed, photographed, timed and dated ; that's why it was expensive. But worth it...)

I know 'musical instruments' are on the Evri list. The R.M. exclusion list is a little less easy to track down, but it's there somewhere. Best check it out.
