Is it still possible to use the basket for multiple sales and discount postage with Simple Delivery?

If so how does it work?

eBay have said Simple Delivery items will automatically be combined at checkout.    Although a couple of people have said it's working I don't think it is yet for most.

I just tried putting 4 of my items (selling acc) with SD into a basket on this ID.
Postage charge was 2.70 each.

2 items came up as 5.40, so no discount. (It would cost maximum 3.45/3.45 whatever they charge for a small parcel 1-2 kg.

3 items came up as a total of 6.15, that was made up of charges of 2.70,  1.90 & 1.55. Again, this should still really come in at 3.45 (small parcel 1-2kg).

4 items was 6.90 - 2 x 1.90, 2 x 1.55 - again, I think this would still be 1-2kg.

So, there was no discount for 2 items, some discount for 3, and a bit more for 4, but buyer was still overcharged for multiples.

When is Ebay going to realise combined postage would be far simpler if the seller still controlled it. Because off the way the weight is entered in the original listing . After all a parcel could be say 250 grams but you enter as 1kg small parcel when listing so how is a automated system going to be able to calculate it correctly

So would it be simpler just to charge for a small parcel and free for any additional items? Dunno why this Simple Delivery is actually so complicated
