Is Simple Delivery in every country

Is it just the UK that's being hit with Simpleton Delivery, or is it coming in worldwide?  Do the Yanks think that we have a 'special relationship' and will just roll over and take it?

In all my years on ebay I've seen some pretty daft changes and resulting outrage, but never anything like the way these forums have gone ballistic recently.

I think I saw somewhere that SD isn't being brought in in Ireland, nor in America.  Is that true?

'The principal reason for untrustworthy businesses masquerading as private sellers had (and still has) very little to do with ebay fees (or indeed anything much to do with ebay at all)'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure about that fother...... there did seem to be a huge uptick in the amount of pseudo-private sellers at the start of the few 'fee-free' months at the end of last year.

And @johnwash1 . Ebay 'seem unwilling to take any action against them'.  Damn right......even to the point of encouraging them! ( a shop? for a private seller? 'out of stock 'options?  for a seller that's not supposed to 'stock' in the first place? etc)

I have my doubts as well.

Any business, especially with an accountant, will surely be very much aware of the risks of having an HMRC audit on their main source of income.  Assuming they are a legitimate business off ebay, IMO it would be very risky not to be fully compliant and try to hide their ebay sales.  Far better to declare them and pay the tax due.

No dis-respect but business sellers are always complaining about the cost of ebay fees to their businesses, with Listing fees, FVFs, Shop Rent, Sponsorship and probably others I don't remember.  Surely enough of an advantage by not paying them, to be able to undercut those that are paying them and as ebay must be well known for its lack of any enforcement of its rules, far less risky ?

Re: Is Simple Delivery in every country

Ebay should equalise private and Business sellers fees. Or have a small business allowance for listings without relisting fees or shop fees.

Vted has no difference in fees and states that it is up to sellers to register correctly. I think ebay manage this situation very badly, but i also think they know that most "private" sellers are very small operators who simply couldn't make it work with relisting fees in particular and would simply stop selling or move elsewhere if forced to change over.

The endless bickering between sellers on here is stupid and getting back to SD, the introduction of this and people pulling their listings has shown a decline of interest in Ebay across the board.

Please, use the "Thumbs down" post everyone to show your displeasure with SD and give it a bump. They may not listen, but i think it's a really interesting that they have "i do not agree with your policy" as an option to click.
