International postage

Hi, I have all my buyer requirements set to UK only. All other boxes are ticked to avoid sending overseas. But a couple of queries...if I wanted to allow international then I untick all those or the ones I'm prepared to send to....no problems but are you able to do this for some listings and not others, or is is all in or all out? International or not across the board.

Also is gsp worth doing or handling yourself with royal mail or someone? It all seems very complicated , I've read a lot about it .

If I had an item I was prepared to send overseas would I have to do all of rhe above and allow the countries etc , would that then allow it on all my listings even existing ones? Or can I chose?

You can set your account requirements first.

Block any countries or regions that you don't want to ship to here:

Set your Buyer Requirements with this page, tick the box that says 'Block buyers whose primary delivery address is in a location I don't post to, then the box that says 'Apply above settings to active and future listings', then click on the tiny Submit link, bottom left of this page:

Once you've done that, if there's no postage price and method to their country, it blocks bidders.

This is now an account setting that is applied to all future listings. 

If you want to ship internationally you just tickl the international postage box and set your international postage prices.

and when you set up a listing tick to use the GSP.

Having set the above global settings, you can edit any listing itself to change the exluded locations, without affecting any of your other listings or the global settings.

Thanks but I can't tick international postage on a listing presumably if I have my settings set to UK only . All countries are ticked as not wanting to send to. So I have to untick those first?

My point is can I have international postage on one listing but not on others?

You can set up your own postage rate tables and have as many as you want. Make sure you name them so you know which one to apply to which listing. So, for example, Evri £4 inc GSP, RM International £12, Evri over 2k no GSP.

When you set up your tables, there is a box to tick to add Global Shipping. You can also block countries on the table.

When you list your item, you just choose from your postage table list which will show in the drop down of the postage box.

I have always used GSP as all customs labels are completed for you and your parcel is insured against loss or damage once it reaches the hub.

Your settings aren't set to UK only unless you only set up a postage price and method for UK only and don't tick the international postage box.

If you've blocked all countries you obviously need to change this to the ones you're happy to ship to. You don't have to keep changing it, I've only ever set mine once.

If you leave them ticked and then select international postage, those countries you've ticked are excluded from your international postage.

Yes, you can. Just tick the international postage box when setting up your listing and add a price and postage method. Then all the countries you haven't excluded will be able to bid/buy.

Sorry if I'm not understanding this well....so let's say I untick usa...so I can sell to there. If I didn't add international postage to the listing then it still couldn't sell to USA despite it being a place I ship to?

So I could leave this unticked on every listing and not sell there unless a postage facility for overseas is listed?

Also would you recommend doing tour own or via gsp....each seems to have its pros and cons. 

So in effect I coukd have usa enabled on all my listings but wouldn't be able to sell any items there I'd I didn't list international postage option?

On using GSP. IMHO.

Pros: 

Don't have to calculate shipping costs for every item to dozens of countries that you may or may not actually ever get a buyer in.

Don't have to worry about customs declarations, packaging regs for different countries, etc.

Once you have proof of delivery to the Lichfield depot, you are off the hook if the package gets lost.

Cons:

It is expensive for the buyer so might put off some overseas buyers.

In both cases, with or without GSP, handling returns is a nausea.

Thanks. Is it also true that your package gets opened and repacked at gsp depot?

Can you send fragile items like China? Royal Mail take things like that bit won't insure them. How woukd that work with gsp?

I assume all packages are opened. I do not know if they repack everything or make a decision.

As to insurance, it is Ebay's risk once you have got the item to  the depot in Lichfield. You are not responsible if it gets broken in further shipping, though you might have to remind Ebay of that.

I use to sell certain items Internationally.

Yes you can choose.

You set this up when listing or editing.

for example:

for UK only  -   on the listing select any UK postage only

for UK & International -  Select postage for UK & International Countries you want to sell to. This listing you tick any Countries by Section or individually you want to exclude.

If you are bulk listing, you can set up Postage Policies for each type of postage, eg UK only or UK & Internationally.

I was able to ship everywhere and now every time I try to create a new listing it says it can only be shipped domestically, not allowing me to post if i select international shipping. anyone came across with this issue?
