Impractical new postage options

I actually want to give feedback to eBay, but of course I’d be interested to know what others think – I might have missed something. As far as I can tell there is now basically a size restriction on items you can sell through eBay, given that you have to use the eBay provided mail delivery options (and their prepaid labels), and the eBay options only go up to a certain size. Previously you could send larger items by, for example, Yodel, which offered a tracked service. I’ve just sold a big picture and packed up. It exceeds the maximum size permitted by eBay, as I suspected it would, I’ll try sending it but really it would be better if we could choose our own delivery options. Plus I’ve used about three rolls of tape to pack it up, plus recycled cardboard, etc, I guess the intention is for the packaging cost to come out of the sold item revenue.

In the future, when selling large items, I’ll have to use a different platform? Previously, I’ve sold big things, like sports equipment or a rug, some of which would now be too big to send through the eBay delivery options.

Apparently eBay are “aware” that there’s a problem listing large items

and they’re reviewing it !  !!

thing is, they say if they recommend a certain size and weight and you pick it (even thigh you know it’s wrong) then you can send it with their label

so eg if I list something 2m wide and eBay recommends large letter (which it actually does)  then all I need to do is use that label and let eBay worry about the cost

Simple delivery was aptly named after all

Thanks - silly me, I didn’t accept the large letter suggestion. Lets hope they sort this out soon.
