OK so listing some items tonight
good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates
bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?
This is from ebay itself: You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.
I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

They say eventually in that, but the CEO wanted it in Q1 and it seems like it was delayed to Q2.
But over the last 3 days we're seeing loads of posts here where workarounds that were working aren't now and I've just spent a couple of hours, on and off, looking through all of my saved keyword searches for Warhammer models. I'd wager over 80% of the new private seller listings all have Simple Delivery. I didn't check every single one but they are easy to spot in thumbnails as they all say 2-3 day delivery. That's new as of today.

Perfect, thanks!

Have you seen what they're doing?
Every SD listing I've seen says 2-3 day delivery on them. I checked 1 auction (7 day) and that was showing 7-9 April off memory.
All the BIN are showing 2-3 April.
So no 3 day turnaround for sellers like they said. It has to be with the buyer in that timeframe.
Absolute trite!

By only allowing two companies to deliver they are asking for trouble, pretty sure other companies will argue they are having trade restricted?

Well eBay have already done anti competition early doors in this rollout when they prohibited using eBay.com to avoid BPF fees.
So it shouldn't be surprising.

Wonder if they'll hi-jack our listings again like they did with the BPF and change the postage to simple delivery...
30-03-2025 7:33 PM
Based on previous actions I'd say that is almost guaranteed.

Nothing happens when I press custom delivery

The new system is compulsory from April 15th. The old (advanced) system will be removed, and so will I be from Ebay.

Yep, I was so wrong!
Just got the email.
How the heck can they justify £2.70 for a letter sized item?

Just looked and it is £2.74 for a letter ? and up to 2kg is £4.27 and will be applied to all old listings just madness

they say Save 20% off postage costs !!Trumpenomics !!

If I sell one of my old football programme for £2 I’ll be out of pocket- absolutely bonkers - ah well bye bye eBay you’ve ruined it
31-03-2025 11:25 AM
also If your parcel exceeds the maximum size and weight of the label, and you listed using our recommended size and weight for your item, you won't have to pay any additional costs. Just go ahead and use the Simple Delivery postage label, as we’ve made sure the carrier will accept your package for delivery. do pigs fly

I've already seen one example of that posted here.
The seller was charged the difference.
They have loads of exemptions in that bs pr announcement.
31-03-2025 11:50 AM
Yep. I took a parcel that was 50g over weight against the ebay label. I had to buy a whole new label or they wouldn't taje it.

Just tried a Dummy listing and a parcel up to 2kg is coming up as min £3.71. Is this the Yodel price? I don’t have a Yodel drop off point anywhere near me. In selling preferences my only options are Evri and RM. There are also no 5kg options, jumps from 2KG to 15KG. I have quite a few listings currently on as over 5kg, cost £5.64. This is going to jump massively.
also, If I’m selling anything over £25 I always send it RM24/48 as the insurance is higher. I cannot see all the options the buyer will be given, just the ‘from’ price. I wonder what will happen to claims from the buyer if a parcel goes missing and isn’t sufficiently covered.
I don’t sell on Vinted as I dislike not being in control. It’s going to be a steep learning curve for us veteran private sellers. 😞
