OK so listing some items tonight
good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates
bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?
This is from ebay itself: You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.
I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

Not on the new simple delivery you can't.
look at what ebay say below.
Collection is available with Simple Delivery through Royal Mail. If you'd like your sold item to be collected, make sure Royal Mail is selected as one of your preferred carriers. Once your item is sold and after you've generated a prepaid label on eBay, book your collection on the Royal Mail website.

yes you can, but it's also not guaranteed that you will be sending via RM it maybe those chancers Evri!!

Ebays current way of buying labels through them is really good, you get it cheaper and you can select to have it collected at the point of buying, with their new simple delivery you can't do this.

Thanks, yeah not sure how it works with evri.

Maybe I had a trial version of it then.

It looks like SD may be nearly fully enforced now. Around 80%+ of the new private seller listings I'm seeing today have it.
eBay are telling buyers 2-3 day delivery on the thumbnails and when you open a BIN listing it says 2-3 April for delivery.
Telling sellers they'll have 3 days to dispatch but telling buyers they'll receive it within 3 days.
This is just so wrong.

I always buy direct from RM and print my own custom labels. Too awkward fiddling with 10-20 packets on the doorstep trying to find the right label for each one!

Maybe because sellers are not aware of RM24/48.

No, ebay say we will always have the option to opt out, but you have to do it every listing.

There's been a link posted on this forum from one of the ebay people called kat or something and they say simple delivery will become mandatory, maybe that's already happened now as multiple people have reported being unable to use their own postage choice the last couple of days.

You can if you create a template and always list from the template!
Just save your preferred postage methods on different templates: EG RM24 £3.99, RM24 free, RM 48 £2.99, RM48 free etc etc

No, they didn't.
In fact one of the eBay staff here confirmed it will be mandatory eventually, but it's looking like eventually maybe a matter of hours/days rather than months.

Bad info and scaremongering at its best!

If you're talking about me, you're talking rubbish.
The CEO is on record saying he wants it mandatory.
Kat an eBay staff member confirmed it on a thread here a day or so back.
So no, not scaremongering, just talking facts.

No, aimed at no one in particular buy please do post a link to that thread

Shameful to admit I dunno how to post a link. ....
But if you want to look up just one of the many different threads on this subject , try : 'Simple Delivery Mandate pushed to Q2' by member @valueaddedresource .
Value proved to be a genius at reading "ebayspeak" and business bullsh** to work out what was actually happening !
