Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

I have not had any discounts on sellers fees since February, yet friends and family are still receiving them. Is anyone having the same experience?

Couldn't agree more John. The taste of that boot leather must be irresistible. Some people seem to think eBay is doing us a huge favour by allowing us to sell here. They don't seem to understand that we are customers paying for a service. Now I think eBay has been great for helping me get rid of my junk over the years, but it can't be denied that it is a bug-ridden mess, with a barely usable app, and a desktop site that is needlessly "optimised" for mobile devices, with concomitant loss of functionality. And eBay's biggest strengths are its huge userbase, a legacy of the time when it was the only show in town, and a dearth of real competition. They really need to start bucking their ideas up, because one day, someone else will come along with a much better offering for customers, and they'll risk going the way of Netscape and Geocities.

Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

I have not received the expected offer this week.  Interstingly in the last 2 weeks I have had 2 return which is highly unusual.  One because the buyer made a mistake and bought the wrong model, and the other DPD delivery disaser as the goods were dmaged beyonfd repair.  Is this  a coincidence I wonder?

Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

Probably a coincidence.

I got the offer on my personal account the past 2 fortnights (after over a year of not getting them) but didn't get an offer today.

Btw I don't think that Eisenhower Dollar you have up for sale is Silver.

Wonder if they have stopped it this weekend due to the new iPhone being released and everyone selling their old phones?

Anyone would think that ebay are doing the business community a favour by exposing these charading private sellers and exposing them to HMRC scrutiny. Ebay are a typically lacklustre modern company with a shabby set of rules, morals and self justification.

Fees are too high for business sellers with very little seller support. True, in some cases, the sellers are to blame, so they should be banned but most often it is buyers chancing their arm and being supported 100% by ebay. The 80% off for private sellers is too generous, both in percentage terms and the number of listings. I would say a fair percentage ebay FVF fee for both private and business sellers would be 5 - 7%.

Ebay are under pressure from an understaffed and quite frankly not fit for purpose HMRC who are failing to do their job properly generally but are expected to produce more revenue for a government whose tax/benefit budget to about 40 billion out?

I assume ebay will send figures to HMRC, who will automatically produce tax demands. One thing is quite clear, they have neither the resources or judgement to do their job properly, so I suggest a lot of unjustified trouble ahead for those disgusting, cheating private sellers who have sold more than £2000 worth of their gear in a year:-)

He/she is asking £6.99 or offer and that is a coin that appears to weigh at least an ounce, so I do not believe they think it is silver either:-) Given the date, appearance and price, I imagine the buyer will know exactly what they are purchasing, although, they may claim otherwise:-)

Like I said earlier, they say it is 'random', but it isn't... You need to be a consistent ebayer selling, each week or every couple of weeks and they will always offer it to you. If you take any breaks or sell randomly, the algorithm will pick up you are not a regular seller and will not try and incentivise you by giving you the 80% off like a lot of us on this thread have been saying they get it literally every fortnight for the past months/years.

Are you selling often, frequently and fairly consistently? If not, eBay won't offer it to you, in my experience anyway.

I had five private IDs that were fairly well behaved but all over the place
in other respects and until ebay recently decided I was a business across
all IDs, got consistent fortnightly 80% offers.
On that basis and considering the contributions here, I would say you guys
who have missed out on this offer over time have been randomly and
indiscriminately stiffed.

You often don't get a choice, they will hold your funds until you make it a business account, seen it a few times before so be careful if they are already warning you about being a business

It's eBay!  Do you really expect any logic?  Mine fortnightly 80% off selling has suddenly stopped.  Any guff about perfomance is, well, guff.  Anything other than money grubbing is up for variation.  Be all & end all - maximise profit fro fat friends.

There is currently no option to report anyone as you suggest.

This recent post is about the possibility of Ebay adding such a feature.

I live in hope but won't be holding my breath.

Gotta go now ,listening to Cyndy Lauper 😉

No eBay promotion for me either today, which is strange given that they've always given promotions every 2 weeks, with the exception of Christmas?

Thankfully everything that is scheduled to roll over this week is low value, so I'll just have to either hold the listings manually, or relist at a higher price to cover the eBay fees!

13% eBay fees is too much IMO for the services offered, and the lack of protections. It should be a fixed fee of 5%, no matter what the category, and no matter if it is a business or private seller.

In which case, if the person in question really is a private individual, then they convert the longstanding account to business (for if and when they decide to resell on eBay and turn eBay selling into a business), remove all of the listings from the new business account, then open a new private account for personal/private sales.

It's not against the rules to have both a private account and a business account (as long as they are used properly). It's also not against the rules to have multiple accounts in general - I know that some people on here prefer to have a separate account just for posting on these forums.

I agree with you on that one. I was going to list a few things. Some for £200 plus so the standard selling fees would be too much

Also had no offer of 80% off fees this week after consistently receiving them.
I simply won't be listing anything due to the high fees charged. Had a fair bit to list too but looks like I'll be exploring Vinted
