Had Enough

Well after 24 years and having a Business account and a private account I've finally had enough.

I Started back in 2001 when most people didn't even know what Ebay was! I used to go to the auctions allot back then until Ebay killed off most of them, don't get me wrong Ebay was a good selling platform to start with but over the years they have just complicated it more and more to the point now where they seem to make all the profit but these last  6 month's it's got to a stage where it's an absolute joke, change this! change that! change it back again, holding your money, Not holding your money, Now Postage costs *bleep* !.

I think I speak for allot of people in saying we have had enough, and you Ebay will feel this with your profits, Id like to like it will now get more auction houses starting back up, also car boots and autojumbles to get money back in local towns again also get people using cash more, finally to Ebay it's a shame as I loved your selling platform and over the years contributed allot to the size of company you are today, shame you had to change things, probably pressure from the uk government as they don't want anyone making money.

'....probably pressure from the uk government as they don't want anyone making money.'

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Never understood why some people keep pinning the blame for this bin-fire on the UK govt.

Ebay is a Global company with a deeply capitalist American heart.

They won't be listening to a single word coming out of a UK Labour  govt.

It’s all about income streams so they can make more money whilst paying little in taxes.

I joined in 2005 and like you've said it was a great platform but although I rode a lot of the previous changes I might not have liked, but the changes since February this year have made me totally lose faith and begin to loathe this platform.

I was a York car boot on Saturday, loads of folk saying that they had never seen it so full of tables in years - and you couldn't move for folk - and the first car boot of the year anywhere is generally a subdued affair.

So, plenty of folk selling and plenty of folk looking for bargains - ok it turned into a nice day but bitterly cold at 7 am!

Visited one at Stone the next day - heard exactly the same thing - the guys looking after the car park couldn't remember when it was last so full!

i put some N gauge track on 57 pcs at £40 which its worth all day long  got no hits no watchers

im not going to put it to auction as that in my opinion would be suicide a freind of mine sold some 00 gauge locomotives that finished between £13 and £14 these should have done at least £24 plus which at one time they would have done.

i have some lledo and oxford die casts on vinted at £2 reduced from £2.50 they,re not worth a carrot on here

especially with BPF and postage which makes them around £7 a model and buyers wont wear that i make 48p a model if they do sell im not even making £1 a model makes me wonder why i bother.

im inclinded to send the lot to the british toy auctions at runcorn and take my chances and finally call it a day as converting to a B/S was a very bad move on my part.

and even if e bay did back pedal on the BPF and S/D  the damage is already done members have walked away and e bay has lost both buyers and sellers hand over fist and could take years if ever to repair the damage done since febuary.

i.ll join the wait and see camp and retain my private account...but i wont hold my breath

Thank you for your post. It is such a poorly thought out mess that started affecting private sellers like myself who also used to buy and now the decline is hitting some business sellers. They have so much to answer for and like you said even if they do a U turn it will take a long time to put right.

I feel the same too.  I WAS selling on Ebay for 25 years.  I was reasonably happy at how it was during that time.  But come February 4th this year when they brought in that STUPID change where sellers would get paid 2 days(or even longer than that in some cases after reading some postings on here) AFTER the buyers receive their items, I decided to remove all my listings.  Reading numerous postings on here about this, including sellers having to phone or email Ebay customer service  a week or so after delivery, to enquire when they would get paid.  This all sounds a complete and utter MESS, what Ebay have done!

And now this "Simple Delivery" malarky.  I haven't read the full details of how exactly this works.  But reading numerous postings on here about it, and people calling it "Stupid Delivery" and "Complicated Delivery", this all sounds another additional complete and utter MESS, what Ebay have done!!!

As it stands, these changes have meant Ebay have lost me(along with many thousands of others by the looks of it!) as a seller.  I have no plans to sell on here again.  I'm hoping that Ebay will see the damage they have done, with many thousands of people abandoning Ebay due to these stupid changes, and they will do a U-turn on this by scrapping these stupid changes and getting it back to how it was.  But I'm not holding my breath!

Yes I go to the autojumble at Rufforth near York often and allot are saying its taking off again, I think whats upsetting allot of people is if you're a private seller and say a family member dies and your selling allot of stuff off you now have the tax man on your back over £1000 as ebay are forcing us to give out our NI details, something thats not happing with me

Yes I know it was a lovely weekend but here in and around Doncaster people saying they have never seen  carboots so packed with buyers and sellers, Ebay need to tread careful here or its going to hit them hard.

I went to my first boot fair for years this week.  I found and bought stuff I'm interested in.  Really good prices, no hassle, I got to see and handle the items.  The seller got his cash straight away.

I'm now down to my last 12 auctions on eBay.

I've now deleted all bar two if the numerous sellers I was following.

My sales have dropped off a cliff for the last three months, and now my purchases are going the same way.

I've been on eBay for 25 years.  This is now the worst I've seen it, little choice, crazy prices being asked for items.

eBay, I've spoken to you, messaged you over the years, you don't listen.

Same here. Been selling on eBay since 1999. It has been my sole income for over 25 years but it now makes so little money it's not worth doing.

The only thing that could save it now for me is making the featured shop have say 10,000 listings for the £93 monthly fee. (Which can I point out is what most Europeans and the US is offered, in fact the US gets 10,000 for half the money of a featured shop here). It would allow me a chance to have enough stock to make money. But the sales have got so bad that I can't make a living out if the 1500 limit. And I can't afford the £525 for an anchor shop.

It's such a shame as selling on here has been my life for 25 years. But alas those days are nearly over for me.

Maybe I should view it as it was fun while it lasted.
