At the end of April 2025 my debit card expired.
I updated it and noted on 2nd May Ebay put 1p into my account as part of their verification process.
Since then Ebay has taken no further action to verify my account.
After talking to various Ebay CSRs they have advised me to do various things to access my account;
Re input my bank account details
Send them a bank statement.
Send them the banks IBAN Reference
Send them proof of ID (drivers licence)
Input my National insurance number
Everything they've asked for I've done.
I had auctions running which I ceased and cancelled another as I'm not prepared to sell something only to add it to the money I cannot get paid out.
Since I've given them everything they've asked for and my money still isn't being released what's the best method to move this forward?
Complaint to Trading standards as they've acted in a way that's far from reasonable?
Make a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman naming Ebay commerce?
Making a claim via Money claim online?
Thanks in anticipation

Something else struck me about Ebays policies struck me.
If I sell my car to a used car dealer, the dealer doesn't withhold my payment.
Neither do they ask for bank statements .
Outside of Ebay I've never been asked for my NI number when I've sold something.
I'd suggest that in forcing you to supply this information then not acting appropriately and continuing to withhold one's money is fraud.

It's not fraud, and it's not in Trading Standards arena, but it's obviously not great that you've been asked to supply information, supplied it and still nothing has progressed.
When did you last contact them?

How long have you been waiting. I had this issue on three accounts as I charged banks.
First one worried me as it took a 9 days. I checked twice with eBay and was basically told all was well.
Second one, I just sat back and waited. Took 7 days, not a problem because now I know this process can take well over a week.
Third took 5 days.
I'd give it two weeks before getting worried.

The used car dealer would ask for your info if you were selling through his online operation.
Not eBay being obstreperous, it's the government who has decided eBay must provide this information, and the only way for eBay to know your NI number is to ask you to provide it.

Did you change banks when your debit card expired? A debit card expiring should not invalidate any checks previously carried out on the associated bank account.
Is there a red banner at the top of your financial summary page and - if there is - what does it say?
