So ebay have decided to force private sellers to use simple delivery for all listings.
Previously you could select advanced options in postage and select your preferred postage method as before.
Did ebay announce this to private sellers - did they ....
I searched around a while and eventually got this from the chat bot:
"Eligible listings will show Simple Delivery as an option when you're creating a listing. Starting 15 April, 2025, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing eligible items."
The recent changes like BPF and simple delivery have been extremely irritating but not terminal. I think this is terminal for me.
I cannot express on this forum without getting deleted my extreme annoyance with ebay.

The unfortunate consequence it that the prices are simply going to go up for all of our customers. For an item we sold at £3.99 this will now increase to £5.16. For no reason other than the only simple delivery option for a large letter is 1kg - who's sending 1kg in a large letter? - what once cost us £1.55 to send now will cost £2.72.
After speaking to all of my work colleagues, elevated costs is what has put them off from using Ebay.
To put into perspective, the above item mentioned is available on other shopping platforms for £4.49. So everyone is going to lose out
Last time a similar shift happened a lot of users and sellers left. With the new 'it's now free to sell on Ebay' it got people interested again due to the postage rates they had negotiated.
Now these are gone, I'm not sure how more traffic/customers will view due to the price increases.

Just recieved an email, stating this
Starting 26 Dec, we’ll begin updating eligible live listings to Simple Delivery. This means you’ll get automatic tracking, pre-paid labels and QR codes. Plus, you’re fully protected if your item is lost or damaged in transit. The rollout will take place over the coming weeks.
I hate Simple Delivery Paying 85p for a £3.50 item is viable, a recent Simple Delivery charge of £2.94 is not as I offer free postage. I am currently opted out of it, will I be railroaded into using it?

Simple Delivery only applies to Private Sellers, i.e. those selling unwanted personal possessions. If you were to correctly register as a Business Seller then you wouldn't need to worry about Simple Delivery.

Exactly. Are you aware that hundreds of Evri parcels have gone AWOL (a local Facebook group has over 700 members, and the situation has made national news) Furthermore eBay accept any old claim regarding so called deliveries and are refusing to refund, stating the item has been delivered. This includes blank screens and the same image used several times for differnt deliveries. I won't buy anything more on eBay until things are sorted

14 years ago the family registered as a business and were doing well until the fees became too high. So we are fully aware. Back then we had to negotiate ourselves with Royal mail to get the correct postage rates. Nowadays we cannot do that.
For reference - we are selling unwanted possessions. But as a former business and to a business you have to admit that this will reduce customer traffic and thus hinder trade
If you are at a carboot sale - you need the people selling possessions they don't want as much as you need the businesses selling the everyday items in order to make it an attractive market. You can't have one without the other.
Private sellers are already being charged 10% for buyer protection - no idea what this is as so far in our opinion it has accounted for nothing.

With simple delivery…
that applies up to orders for £750. You just have to get the buyer to open the relevant case with eBay.

And over £750 it's custom postage
eBay deals with everything if a buyer says an item not arrived, it all goes through them, the seller does nothing, only gets a notification from eBay. That's from my father's experience.
Not sure what happens if an item is damaged - I take photos of the packaging, but have done that before SD.

I hope you have enjoyed possessing that extraordinary collection of brand new hardware items in multiple quantities that you no longer want and are now selling on a private account.
Incidentally, your description says to check out your stock of large quantities of household items.
